CANCELLED: Escape Rally, 2020 At Nk-Mip CG in Osoyoos, BC

This may not be the right place to post for visibility. Maybe the admins could help pin or repost accordingly.

Rally is set for May 21 to May 24 2020. We have put 180 sites on hold for Escape and wine tours etc are already prepared.

I know a bunch of folks are really keen to book their sites. Nk'mip are upgrading their booking system and will not accept bookings for a few weeks. We will make an announcement when they are up and running.

We will do things a little differently this year.

A. First, you book your site and pay Nk'mip.
B. Second, you come to the Escape website, enter your confirmation number from Nk'mip (we will have another process for visitors/customers not staying at Nk'mip who still want to attend) and proceed to make your selections for wine tours, golf, yoga, walking, volunteering, pot luck, servicing etc. You will also be able to pay online in your local currency for the Escape activites (except golf which you pay on the day at the course).

Any updates on a booking date for the sites? Do you know if specific sites are reservable or are sites assigned when you show up?

Haven't seen any further info.

I don't know if things have changed, but I requested a specific site for nine rallies that I attended and never got the one I asked for. The only way I know of to get a premium site is to turn up earlier than anybody else. People show up on Wed. and even Tues.
Try Monday.

2020 Canadian Escape Rally

Escape 2020 Canadian Rally - May 21 to May 24

Step 1: 16 Dec 2019 onwards, book your campsite with Nk' mip.
Step 2: 13 Jan 2020 onwards log your confirmation with Escape and start selecting activities. This year you will be able to select online and pay online.

Nk'mip campground is now taking reservations for Escape customers. Please contact the campground info@campingosoyoos.com or 250.495.7279

The campground will give you a confirmation number. Hold on to the confirmation number.

In January 2020 we will release an online form for you to log your campground confirmation number with Escape and select from the other activities eg wine tours, pot luck etc.

Regards
Karl

Try Monday.
We've been to all 10 rallies and and after the disaster of trying to get a decent site last year, by arriving early Wednesday morning, we decided then and there that we would not attend any more rallies if they were held at Nk' mip. We only ask for a specific area and still are not given that. This year we were first given one down below on the grass, then one in the back forty with the permanent residents, then a decent one in C area but when we got to the campsite it had been also given to two other people and one of them got there before us. We finally got one in the center of the C area but we had to deal with leaking sprinklers that were flooding the camping pad until maintenance could be called to shut them off.

The campsite tries to fill up the poor sites first so even if you arrive early you won't initially be given a good site unless you are vigilant and turn them down. We arrived on a Monday one year and they still tried to put us down on the lower grass area.

So sorry about that Barry, with your bad luck we have had good luck, so thank you. We have been over in the pull thru section 3/4 and 1/4 on a back in across from pull thru. OTOH, your luck must change so I would try it again. We arrive on Tuesday normally and have good luck, please try again.

What is best site area?

Hi all - i have never been to the Nk'Mip site. I am assuming the water sites (#73-#98) are the best ones? Is that correct? We are bringing our two little kids (2 yrs old and 3 months old). I called the site and they said for the rally they are now allowing you to book a specific site. I just need to know which one to pick!

Thanks.

With little children I would stay away from the water. Also the waterfront sites do not seem to be desired as they are away from the club house where the activities take place. But it is pretty down there, tough decision. I suggest you bring bikes, it is a very large cg....

When we were there this year the water sites (and the lower area) are covered with midge flies when it's not windy... and when it rained it's a little muddy in sections.. We were one row next to the water front and from what we can see the sites are mostly not very leveled.. the playground is by the water and according to our 8 years old it's pretty fun when the flies were not out

the rally activities are all happened "up there". not a long walk but it will just take a bit of time because you will end up talking to all the escape owners on the way...

Prime sites depend on what you want. Some want to be close to the clubhouse ( I for one can't hike up from the lake ). Some want unobstructed view of the sun setting over the lake ( sites in blue ). Drive through sites are in centre at left of map. Sites C5 - C17 overlook the lake and are on a large grassy field.
