Escape Trailer Rally in Merritt, BC

Hello Everyone,

I am currently working with a campground in Merritt, 'Claybanks RV Park' and so far everything sounds good regarding amenities, and space. I am waiting for Mother Nature to respond in regards to the weather.

I am hoping to book 30 sites for June 4-6. I will post a map of the sites we have reserved once the final details are confirmed. All reservations will be made through me including payment. I will post a table of those people who are registered, if anyone cancels I will have a waitlist.

I am looking forward to our very first Escape Rally. Please keep in mind this rally is open to all other models of fiberglass trailers and even one Airstream.

Tammy

Boy, I wish we could come. I'd love to bring my newest grandson, Micah. If you saw the "meet the Escapee" show, you'll notice immediately, that we are related : - )

Re: Escape Trailer Rally in Merritt, BC

Hi, Tammy, and everybody else --

the Rosses are interested in doing this -- 2 of us -- I gather we wait for the map and then email you (Tammy) direct re choice of sites?

We need to be near the "handicapped" washroom, ideally.

A second thought -- when it comes to any possible pot-luck, could we agree to put a list of ingredients on dishes we contribute? I have a potentially lethal allergy to sunflower seeds, sunflower sprouts, and sunflower oil, and would appreciate the choice of not taking anything that contains that (e. g. Becel margerine). There may be some some celiac disease among us, as well, and possible seafood allergies.

We really look forward to meeting as many as possible of the Escapees in the flesh! Anybody else here like Corona?

Could we agree not to do any pot-luck at all? I had enough of those as a preacher's kid.

You gotta be kidding, potlucks are great. You get to try lots of great dishes, plus the socializing aspect of them is fun too. Everyone prepares dishes that they really like, so they are usually very yummy.

I'm not going to be able to attend this event, but I kinda understand Glen's thinking. I don't DO potluck's anymore. Not because of the food, but because I have no self-control. It's far better for my health to not participate. So, I fix a plate of food at my "house" and take it to the foody-area. I can still participate in the meal, just not in the sharing. Others may have food allergy/diet issues. But, I can bet that anyone would be welcome to sit and eat... even if you bring your own... at the group potluck meals.

Re: Escape Trailer Rally in Merritt, BC

Just like how we outfit our trailers, places we go, and stuff like that, so we all differ on the thoughts of potlucks as well. Franky, I eat quite good most of the time, I look forward to that once in a while I get to stuff myself trying out all those different dishes. I am salivating at the thought of it.
I have no allergies though.

Hi:All... I have one main allergy and that's "To work" not to food. To a lesser * I have a fear of cameras. A photo phobia you could say. I don't mind being behind a camera but not in front!!! Alf

Re: Escape Trailer Rally in Merritt, BC

I too love potlucks, but have gotten in big trouble sometimes. Often, I have the tendency not to eat, but "graze". Started when I became a believer, and reading Paul's letter to the Corinthians (NAS version) I read "I buffet my body and make it my slave". Well, wanting to be obedient, I started to every buffet I could.....only some years, and many pounds later, I find out, it's the OTHER buffet he meant, ie. "to beat back with repeated blows". Aw Man!!! : - )

Hi: HokieEscape...Dan To many people take the written word literally rather than figuratively. Your figure is mind over matter...If you don't mind, it doesn't matter!!! Pot lucks are great specially if you can eat out doors. Then it doesn't matter how many brought baked beans. Alf

Stoked!!

Perhaps a pancake breakfast? Looking forward to meeting other Escapers!

We could always bring our own dinners to a Beerluck. Same idea, but rather than bringing your own beer and shared food we bring our own food and shared beer. Everyone bring a case of something local and a lot of little cups?

Re: Escape Trailer Rally in Merritt, BC

Beer tasting, great idea. Not sure about the little cup thing though, sounds a bit absurd to me. Though, I guess if trying out a bunch of different beers, one might not get too far through the selection with big cups.
