And if I'm praying, it is that there will be some fried fish when I get to the buffet. Three trips & the tray was empty each time (but others managed to get some!)

The brunch at Betty's is something else!

That really complicated the issue. However, in this photo, I am praying that I can get in line before Alf gets all the smoked salmon. I am also praying that my plate holds up to the load I'm gonna put on it. Today, I prayed that I get to do it all again a week from tomorrow, God Willing, the creek don't rise and the Marathons hold together. Had a great fish fry buffet in Madison county last night. It was at the Iowa trappers convention. Did not see Clint Eastwood, or any other Coca Cola Cowboys. Just hard trapping men and women who can skin a coyote and bake an apple pie.

LMAO

Great to put a face to a name, Dave. Not buying your whole story, but still good to hear your side of it.

Agree Jim it is nice to put a face to the name especially Iowa Dave who I had seen before beside Jon "praying" at Betty's. I guess we need to go this weekend with an appetite since we have the pot luck followed next morning with Bettys!

just wish we could be there Thursday as well but our Shitzu is having a haircut late that day in Orangeville so changed our res. to Friday to Monday. Anyone else staying to Mon.?

Adrian, we will be staying Sunday night and starting back west on Monday if I'm still alive after tackling that pot luck and Betty's in less than 24 hours.

So looks like Escape Hatch 2 bringing hot beans and Escape Hatch 1 will have cold bean salad!

Glad there will be others staying until Monday. Dave and Rita and we shall be speeding off to the Mississippi rally - well we are not going that fast planning to take three days to get to western IL from the falls.

Alf, you need to put names to the folks your photos, so those of us who don't know who is who can put names to faces. In that first photo, the only ones I have met are you and Mary Anne (front right), and Wolf and Gabi (back left).

Left eastern Iowa at 9:30 AM. Setting on the beach at Holland Michigan watching the sunset 399.7 miles for the day. Just a walk in the park for this old roadmaster. Chicago at 65 mph. Never touched the brakes. They were sail in' today. Will be at Elora Gorge tomorrow night and into riverside mid day on Thursday. Rita took a nice lighthouse pic and the sunset. Jake and I are gettin hungry. Got the pork loin cooked up and in the freezer back at camp. See you on Thursday.

Pumpkin Torte Recipe from Niagara Rally 2015:

Thanks Alf and Mary Anne for organizing another great rally. We thoroughly enjoyed the weekend and the pot-luck was outstanding as always! Here is the pumpkin Torte Recipe for those who requested it:

Base:
24 crushed graham crackers (approx. 1 ½ Cups)
½ Cup sugar
1/2 Cup butter –melted
Mix and press into a 9 X 13 pan
Next layer:
2 Eggs
¾ Cup sugar
8 oz. package cream cheese – softened
Mix together till smooth. Pour over graham cracker base. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
Remove from oven and cool while preparing next layer:
2 Cups pumpkin
3 Egg yolks (save egg whites)
½ Cup sugar
½ Cup milk
½ tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 package gelatin
Cook in saucepan till thickened. Remove from heat and stir in 1 package gelatin soaked in ¼ Cup water. Let mixture cool completely. Beat egg whites till stiff – add ¼ Cup sugar and beat again. Fold the egg whites into the cooled pumpkin mixture and pour this over the cream cheese layer. Top with whipped cream. Chill and serve. I sometimes sprinkle the top with cinnamon.
