Karen, Alf does not know how to use commas, Canada West was just Ontario, then Canada East was Quebec, then we had the "far east" provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, just the four when the country began 148 years ago tomorrow.

p.s. Alf if you lost your list, remember we are coming!

I see a couple of familiar faces there. Hoping we can make it on Sunday, we have a 7 hour trip ahead of us so we need to get on the road before noon.

For those that like history googling Upper Canada and Lower Canada gives you lots of info on how Canada formed.

Bummer... a family obligation came up unexpectedly so we're not going to make this event after all.

Maybe we'll see some of you at the gathering in Quartzsite Arizona in February. We'll have our 19 by then!!

Have fun and drink some wine for me!

Will anybody have a scale suitable for checking tongue weight at the Niagara Wine Escape rally? I'd like to check my tongue weight since changing up a few things. I know I must be slightly over 350 lbs. cause I can't quite pick it up to set it on the ball. Also, I could bring a torque wrench if you want to torque your nuts on your trailer or TV.

If you have 3 or 4 foot piece of 4x6, a block of wood and a bathroom scale (old one, not the good one in the bathroom), you can do what I have done: "the poor man's scale".

Set on end of the 4x6 on the block of wood, the other end of the 4x6 on the bath scale. If the 4x6 is not level, add blocks of wood under the low end.
Make a mark on the 4x6, 1/2 way between the wood block(s) and the scale, and set your tongue (trailer tongue) on the mark.
Weight reading on the scale times 2 = tongue weight within a pound or two..

Tongue weight

Jim, thanks for the offer, that would be great. I'm pretty sure I don't have any scale but the
"Good one" and I share living quarters with Jake enough now. (Doghouse) I bought a ton of river stone today at the local sand quarry. While there, asked the scale lady if she'd weigh our Escape trailer and she seemed happy to do it. I'm gonna water it up and gas the truck and see where I am at on gross weights. Then if I get the tongue weight, I can adjust up or down. Pulling fine now, but never hurts to know. Weighed 8460 with the utility trailer on behind the Highlander had 2360 in rock.

Hi Alf, Barb and I hope to attend. We are presently in PEI and are slowly working out way back to Alberta. Put on about 10,000 Km so far and the new 5.0 ta has performed very well. Heading to Quebec next then relatives in Ottawa so the rally is in our plans.
