Someone told me after attending one of their events it was like a "time share sales event" where there was a sales pitch for various trailers in exchange for some food and drink? Just wondering if this is true?

Interesting. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and it's unfortunate that the person who felt that way didn't have fun at Eggshells in the Outer Banks/Tearstock (the rally you are most likely referring to). It's the first rally RV Compass had with a manufacturer as its major sponsor. Someone has to pay to throw a rally, whether is a sponsor or out of the pockets of attendees.

There were no sales pitches, only some free giveaway items with sponsorship branding (e.i. bottle openers, frisbees, coozies, ear buds, pens, etc.). The rally was just that, a rally with an independent schedule of events, and no one had to participate in anything the sponsor offered at any time during the weekend.

If you would like to learn more before passing judgement please look at the post-rally Eggshells in the Outer Banks website: Eggshells in The Outer Banks - Fiberglass Travel Trailer Rally

I have been to 8 Escape Trailer Industries sponsored rallies, and they were not too shabby. They usually have some cool product branded stuff to offer.

Though I see what Jim is talking about after visiting the site, with due diligence one could determine just how much is a sales pitch and how much is the fun part. I have become very good at saying no to sales folk if not interested.

We attended "Eggshells on The Outter Banks" this year, and i must say we had a wonderful time! Jeannine did a wonderful job. The events were nice, the weather was wonderful and it was fun having all the LiL Guy trailers there and seeing all the set ups. LiL Guy and Parkliner had they're newest offering there for all to see , but i never experienced a hard sell. Good people, good weather, good food, what else could anyone ask for. If someone had a bad time they had to work real hard at it!

We concur with Jake930. Ditto for his complete description of the OBX Rally. It was a good mix of about 50-50 teardrops and molded fiberglass. Liberty Outdoors, the primary sponsor was extremely generous in providing a free dinner, a free breakfast, many door prizes, and wonderful DJ entertainment on the beach/under the stars. Liberty Outdoor personnel were very friendly and asked “nothing” in return from the attendees. All presentations were voluntary and travel/camping/entertainment oriented. Nothing close to a sales pitch. We are truly looking forward to our next Compass Rally as Jeannine works like a Captain and Parties like a Pirate. ARRR!
