I picked up a six-pack of Central City Brewers Autism IPA today for the swap.
$2 of the purchase price goes to support those with autism.

Good questions to ask. Friends of ours sailed to Mexico with their parrot and then drove back home into the states--their bird had to be in quarantine. Best to check crossing into Canada and also your return into the US.

Hello Everyone,

Yes, we will be doing a beer exchange. This will be done on Saturday before the potluck dinner....or Friday before the Escape dinner. Feedback? Which would you guys prefer?

My preference is Friday. The problem with having it before the potluck is that I'm doing prep for my contribution to the dinner. I can't grill the salmon and be at the beer exchange at the same time.

Escape provides a meal on the Friday night for everyone for the first get together of the rally. They did this last year too. Mostly sandwiches and munches, but all very good eats.

Just so long as we get back from the wine tour on time, Friday would be okay with me for the beer exchange. I could go either way. Isn't Donna talking charge of this, to give it some organization? It could use a bit of structure, though is always fun anyway.

I think I am at least a couple older. At least I feel that way sometimes.

The Swapping of the stuff.

I had a chat with Tammy yesterday, and since it seems there are a few of us who have extra Stuff, it would be well to handle the "Swapping of the Stuff" this way:

I am going to set up a table at our campsite on Saturday morning. It will be ready by 09:00, and will close at about 1:00 PM (or at least Lindy and I may not be there after 1:00). If you have Stuff to give away, feel free to drop it at our campsite on the table. Please label the Stuff with your name, and please come back to pick up any of your remaining Stuff in the afternoon -- just so I don't get stuck disposing of your Stuff. Also, if there is some special knowledge associated with your Stuff, please post it on a card or label of some sort. For example, one the things I am going to try to give away is a set of pads for BAL stabilizers. But they only work on the stabilizers used on pre-2012 Escape Trailers. I am going to note that on a little card so that other folks aren't frustrated trying to fit them onto their new 2015 trailer. All your Stuff is to be given away rather than sold -- I can't be trusted with any funds, American, Canadian or otherwise. Stuff you take does not come with any warranty, implied or otherwise. However, Stuff may be returned or exchanged for other Stuff of equal or greater value so long as the exchanging is completed prior to 1:00 PM.

I hope this isn't too complex or formal. We have never been to a fiberglass rally before, and if anyone has a better idea on how to make the Swapping of the Stuff work, I would be more than willing to listen and learn.

So bring your Stuff, and stop by to see if you can find some useful Stuff and maybe we will all end up with just the right Stuff!

Leon

Leon does this have something to do with a Bal leveler? What are Bal leveling pads. Just naive I guess.
Thanks,
Greg

They are pads that go on the bottom of the BAL stabilizers. Handy in places with soft ground.

He is talking about little round metal feet that go on the ends of the stabilizers. They are flat to the ground and give you a few inches of contact with the ground instead of only the ends of the stabilizers, so you have support in a bigger area. And what FirstJim said.

Cannot use the older round ones on a newer trailer.

Leon,
Would you put my name on the bal pads if they are not already gone?
Thanks,
Greig

Thanks for taking this on, should be interesting.

Of course you could amend your instructions to tell folks it they have anything really good to stop by my campsite first.

Swap Report

The Swapping of the Stuff (aka "the redistribution of wealth") went well yesterday. Lots of folks donated stuff, and lots of folks found stuff that is useful to them. Among the items that changed hands: Andersen Levelers, Malinco Towing Mirrors (the really nice stream lined ones), a campfire grill, a hitch lock, some leveling blocks, some nice wheel chocks, an electric fry pan, a paper towel holder, some grilling utensils, and lots of other stuff that has slipped my mind. On the other hand, hitching aids ("hitching posts", the little rods with tennis balls on the top of them, etc) were in plentiful supply with few takers.

I enjoyed myself, got to meet lots of people, and, got rid of all my excess "stuff". While there was a brisk business, there wasn't much profit, but may it can be made up with more volume next year. Thanks to everyone who participated!
