Stuff to Give away at the Rally
I was in the basement today looking and found somethings that we have acquired over the years, but I don't think I will ever use. so I thought I would bring them to the rally in the hope that we could give them to someone who might actually use them at some point. I hope this is acceptable rally etiquette. Here's what I have on my list to bring (so far)
- The orphaned hitch wheel (but you already knew that)
- A Luxpro digital thermostat -- heat only. I got it when I thought I was going to have to replace the Honeywell thermostat in our previous trailer, but all it needed was a to have the batteries changed
- A set of pads for the stabilizer arms. They don't work with the newer stabilizers that were used on 2012+ Escapes, but would work on the older ones
- A hand pump for pumping the pink antifreeze into your plumbing system. I got it but then figured out that I didn't need it if I blow out the lines with an air compressor
There might be other stuff, but I haven't found it yet. This is part of my ongoing effort to get the basement cleaned out. If you are going to the rally, and something here would be useful to you, let me know and I will be happy to deliver it to you at the rally.

I'll add a set of those tennis balls on long posts to help one line up the hitch and receiver while hooking up, the integrated back up camera eliminates the need for such.

Leon, I would speak for the Luxpro thermostat. If it can replace the factory mechanical heat only thermostat, yes please.

Good call, as mods go it's one of the easiest that gives the most payback. The only word that I can think of to describe the factory thermostat is horrid.

It is yours! My understanding is that it can replace the thermostat in the Escape -- at least that is why I bought it.

I replaced my original with this thermostat if it is the 2 wire 12 volt one. I got mine on Amazon. The LUXpro is a two wire thermostat designed for a 12 volt system. Works great! Very simple. Needs a couple of batteries to maintain setting. Once you turn it on, you hit the up or down arrow to set the desired temp. It defaults back to actual temp after a few seconds and then kicks the heater on. Very accurate. We have been using ours for 2 years now.
If needed, I can remove my cover to show the wiring locations.

CPAHarley - Hey Mike, I use the tennis balls as I don't have the back up camera. The tennis balls work great.

This is probably not the thread to ask this question, but we are three weeks out now from picking up our 21. We will be crossing into Canada at Sumas with our Labrador Retriever, Millie, but are also planning on bringing Romeo the wonder bird. He's an African Grey parrot that usually entertains all who meet him. My question is, has anyone had experience crossing into Canada with a parrot? He has all his shots etc., but with avian bird flu and other diseases common to birds, I am concerned about running into problems at the border. I know everyone must think we are crazy, but Julie can't stand the thought of leaving him behind for a month or more. He loves her!

Hmmmmm....I think Romeo might be safer at our daughter'so house in Boise. I was only worried about getting him into Canada. I forgot about bringing him back. This Forum has always been so helpful. I knew I could get good info and advice here. Too bad, though, he is a remarkable talker. He entertains people whoever he goes. Maybe you will meet him at a stateside gathering Thanks, again. This Forum is like Wikipedia for campers!

Rally Donations and Activities
Hi Leon,
Would you like me to add this to the agenda for the rally? We can let people know a time and place once you have your camp site. - Maybe give me a call tomorrow and we can talk.
If anyone else has some activity that they would like to organize for the rally please let Tammy know by the end of this week so I can get it onto the agenda.
- For example last year many people went paddleboarding and kayaking, while others attended a car show. In the campground I know there was ladder toss going on and a book exchange.
Thank you for the reminder Leon.
Tammy

Jack,
If not, you can always give me your beer and I will exchange it for an empty one....

I was planning on bringing a six pack or two of the offerings from the local micro breweries, in hope that there would be something to exchange them for.
I have a group of friends that ride our bikes to a different brewery every Thursday afternoon. As a result my taste in beer has expanded (but still doesn't include bud light)
