Flippin RVs

My wife, Linda, found an interesting cable show on GAC (Great American Country), Channel 484 on Comcast and I think also on Dish and DirectTV.
The show follows the restoration of vintage RVs done by Flyte Camp Vintage Restoration in Bend, OR.
It is fun to watch them rebuilding and restoring old trailers, some as far back as 1936. Some of them are taken down to just the chassis and axle then rebuilt. I'm sure one can get good ideas from the show. Those trailers have great nostalgic value but I still like our Escape for its modern conveniences and comfort!

They bring new life to old RV's. I wonder if you could use their techniques to bring old life to a new RV.

I live in Bend, where they are located. I've seen a couple of their finished trailers- they look great.

They're not far from Robert Johan's either. For those on FiberglassRV, you probably know who I'm talking about.

Very interesting....

I have watched several episodes. One episode they redid a teardrop tearing it down to the frame. Only thing reused was the hardware and light fixtures. Pretty amazing. Also they did a polish job on a 1976 Airstream for $2500. Took like 5 days with multiple people, but it was like a mirror when they were done. Half a day with Bow to Stern doesn't seem so bad after watching that!

Every stick built they tear down has heavy water damage and rot. Reminds me why I have an Escape.

Some of the prices on a fully restored trailer were more than what you could buy a fully loaded Escape for. But who can put a price on nostalgia? Loren

Alf, whatever your budget would allow. A full mahogany interior would look good.

You could do lots. Really turn that baby into a charm. My '76 Trillium should be quite nice when it is done. Hoping.......

Well, if you had time and a bunch of talent you could do this:
Boler 13

Talking about vintage trailers I must point to our baby:
Shasta Renovation

Such an undertaking is not for the faint of heart!

Thanks.
