Next Meet the Escapee Show - I may need some help

OK... for those of you who attended the last show (w/Bruce.. who by the way was an "excellent" interviewee ), I had some difficulty with the chat and a slight glitch in the audio. The audio I have a answer to, so I'm not as concerned with, as now I know what to do and can recover quickly.

Anyway the next show is with Tammy & Reace and I'm sure we'll get a big turn out.

I've been using the UStream system to broadcast the show (which seems pretty good) & also using their chat system (which is pretty bad). The Ustream Chat seems to confuse people, so I installed our own chat system. Yes, I don't really have a life!

So prior to the next show (in Dec) I would like to run a short test, to make sure everything's working OK with the Chat system (as I can only test it so much).. If your up for a test next week, either 21 or 22 at whatever time that's convenient for those who would like to participate.

oh, BTW did anyone like the new intro?

thanks

jeff

Re: Next Meet the Escapee Show - I may need some help

I missed the introduction due to a phone call; so I cannot comment on that. I thought the technology worked fine. I was able to log in properly, maybe my late arrival had an advantage. The video images were different quality, Bruce seemed to be using a notebook camera and the picture quality was grainier and fuzzier than yours Jeff. Another factor could be the internet connection and its speed. A consideration maybe to use one of those cheap USB cameras, I do not know if they have better quality than a notebook camera.

I would have liked a better scripted program. Perhaps a topic list that gives more structure to the presentation and the questions. Then follow the script in order.

Here are some ideas that come to mind quickly:
Models
13
15
17
19
5er

New Production Line
Changes in Standard Features and Options
Where the industry is going
Sales - US vs Canada
Most frequently choosen option
New web site - login feature?
Stories - everyone likes one or two, maybe more if you have a good storyteller. I would put Bruce into that category.

Finally, I would be happy to assist in a test.

Re: Next Meet the Escapee Show - I may need some help

Glad to hear you comments.. The "Meet the Escapees" is pretty fly by the pants right now..so you're right a scripted type format would improve the flow..

The "Tammy & Reace" show obviously will be more content driven, but I'm sure we all would like to hear the story of how they started as well. We'll get some "canned" questions out to them before so they can be a prepared as well with the rest of show utilizing the chat system..

The cameras are what they are.. I have a better webcam system than Bruce or Jim's.. I thought Glenns was better than mine at the time.. I upgraded my Camera since..

Each show is a learning process.. I'm piecing all this together w/o trying to purchase too much "stuff". It's a challenge (which I like) to do the same "type" things that others are doing w/o spending "thousands of dollars" on equipment.. My friends laugh at how I "McGyver" all this together..

Anyway, I'll count you in the test.. you can check out the intro by replaying the show on the forum post, if you like..

thanks again for the input.. It's always good to get the feedback as I'm totally into improving the experience..

Jeff,
You have been doing a great job! And thanks too to Jim , Glenn and Bruce! I hopefully will have time to view the rest..I loved the intro. We all will be looking forward to the next one, but since I was unable to contemporaneously view the last one with Bruce, I'm most appreciative of the opportunity to view it at later dates.
Thanks so much.

I used the cam in the MacBook Pro. It would have looked like crap if I hadn't used a 500W work-light bounced off a piece of white cardboard. Anybody can improve the quality of the picture from their existing cam, simply by adding enough light.

Jeff

The show is always fun and entertaining and I think
the producers are doing a great job..... If it was
on more often I would cancel my cable.

Re: Next Meet the Escapee Show - I may need some help

Although a bit of scripted questions might be in order to ensure certain things get covered, I kinda prefer the 'off the hip approach', much like it would be if we met in person. I think this whole concept is fantastic.

I don't think you need a script. Just a list of topics to cover that you can refer to. The whole point of the chat portion is to involve members and you can't script that, unless you ignore them.

Re: Next Meet the Escapee Show - I may need some help

Or stop interrupting with movie factoids, like, the kid playing the banjo on the deck had a broken arm at the time. So, to film that scene, they had a guy, hidden behind him, with his arm through the sleeve so that it appears that the kid is strumming the banjo.
Now I have to see if I can find my DVD, but first I have to watch the remake of The Prisoner.

And to drift slightly off-topic. Anybody capable of writing a tutorial for installing TV in a trailer? I'm thinking the way to go is to use a notebook computer for the screen / DVD player and software and hardware to pick up local TV signals. Meantime, I'm just listening to oldie-time radio on Sirius.

Re: Next Meet the Escapee Show - I may need some help

Jeff, any idea of the date of the December shows? I would like to watch it live, but I always have a meeting on the second Wednesday of the month, i.e., December 9th. Otherwise, it's the "tape delay" for me.

Thanks,

Rick
