Me too Donna, I loved that feature. Simplicity at its best. No forced air, no RV antifreeze. Too bad the design of the toilet valve now does not allow it to drain.

Maybe a low point drain with a way to evacuate the water from the toilet valve?

I heard from a reliable source that all of the new Escapes are going to use a baby blue gel coat rather than the old white gel coat.

The hinges aren't robust enough for the door, and it's well documented here that the doors start sagging and mis aligning so they no longer catch and stay closed. We are experiencing this already on ours and yes, we did just get it in Nov. I'll come up with a solution to fix it, but since it is a documented issue, I hope the 2017 has a better hinge solution coming.

Yes I heard this too. However, my sources tell me it will be the Araucana option and will cost a dollar two- ninety eight extra. And I'm not yolking.

That's news to me. So far so good with my 2009. I wonder if there were interim changes?

If that is true, then how would UV light affect it?

Oliver did that too. Extra labor $$ to spray the color then clean out all the spray lines and gear. will be fun to see if its an option or standard. That snoozy tan color had owners clamoring for a bigger a/c in the summer.

If you read all the posts on this subject, you will see that the more likely culprit for the door not latching properly is that the door contracts or swells with humidity. This may require adjustment of the latch.
My 2008 bath door has required no adjustment, doesn't sag and closes just fine, but I haven't spent weeks in the Arizona sun.

FWIIW the door swelling and shrinking is (similarly) the case with my Casita 17' and it merely needs a tiny latch adjustment, very occasionally.

Back in '08 I inquired with Oliver about using another colour gelcoat for the interior, as I really didn't care for the stark institutional white look, but they would not do it. I guess they have changed things.

Thanks for the info..hopefully that is not a permanent problem as some have indicated it is not for them. Have not completely read this forum but from what I have read and looked at build pics...as more info is digested it appears even after spending 30k+ it may also require a number of fixes for various things which ain't so good ... Being new to trailers , maybe my expectation for spending 30k you can get a well engineered trailer from anybody is a false assumption. Guessing a visit to the Escape factory will be required.

My bathroom door too suffered no ills in over six years. Not even the latch needing adjusting. I drove a lot of though roads too.

We had our 19 for 5 years with no problems and our new 5.0T is just about a year old, just went out and looked at the door, all good.

Cheers

One can read and retain only the information that reinforces what they want to believe.
It was determined that the hinges were not an issue.

Do not understand our trailer is 2013 and the door is not sagging etc. ,the hinges are fine . My previous camper had a heavier door made of real oak with same hinges 3 , never had a problem except on that one had to adjust the door latch once . Never have so far had to adjust latch . The camper was a 1992 , much older . I have installed snaps with a vinyl strap and snap door closed just in case . Pat

Freespirit, I don't think that that has been the case for the vast majority of Escape owners. Our 2010 17B has been and still is very well built and has experienced very few problems

I think you'll find anyone who has cabinet making experience would say 'it looks too small'. And IF ETI trailer designs were reviewed by an engineer and 'signed off' they would have the size increased.

I replaced mine, I would rather be proactive because I often drive off road and it was obviously undersized to me. It was 1 of many things I improved. I was a Union Cabinet Maker back in the day.

Given the washboard and rutted roads I often travel, I am constantly surprised when I arrive and find every thing intact. Doesn't hurt to employ some bungee cords, however.
