The logistics of this likely just aren't worth the extra troubles, especially when they are struggling to keep up with the demand on production.

Not sure on the new style, but I changed my David on the old style. A couple hours work, but nothing too tough.

Not that I would replace it, but it's actually very easy to replace the fabric. It's held in to the roller slot by a long plastic strip, and held to the side of the trailer by sliding through the C Channel.

Good to know - one person job? Does that also apply to the new Carefree awning? Are they all sort of built the same when it comes to changing the fabric? I've never really studied the Casita's Fiama awning.

I don't know of a "new" Carefree awning Dave, unless you're talking about the new power awning for 2017 - which is a Dometic, not a Carefree.

But, all the Carefree manual awnings work basically the same as far as a fabric change. The replacement fabric doesn't even have to be from Carefree, as long as it has the bead for the C-channel sewn on one side, and is the proper length and width. And yeah, definitely can be done by one person with no difficulty.

That's the point of this thread: it starts with the report that Escape is switching to Carefree, from the previously announced Dometic.

Wow, had no idea. Should have read the first post. Got it confused with the thread about switching to a power awning for 2017. That's what happens when you're having too much fun camping.

You are forgiven. Your mind is still in vacation mode.

And it's no wonder he's a little dis-oriented. I saw them Big Bend pictures.

Thanks! The Carefree info was what I was looking for. I have a feeling my "Director of Trailer Operations and Furnishings" is thinking of a non-beige color at some time in the future. It will probably (definitely) fall on the "Trailer Maintence Specialist" to make the DoTO & F's wishes come true. 😳
