With the other floorplan, there have been many comments that people don't want to walk into the bed area. I can't move the door to the rear...so here is a flip. The front dinette is the same size as the 19'. Microwave cabinet at the end of the bed will be around 45"-50" high with a countertop.

This is often very true, and that is why I am now carrying extensions for those 3 hookups, to give me a bit more flexibility.

If the best view is out the back, I like to turn broadside to it, so we can sit under the awning while we eat and see it. Though I have only used it one in twenty nights or so, the jack wheel can come in handy, because on level ground we can spin the trailer quite easily.

Last year we traveled with another couple and liked to face each other when set up, so usually at least one unit needed the hose/cord extensions.

I vote for "B", rear bedroom, for all of the reasons already mentioned, e.g. privacy, proximity of dinette to kitchen, etc.

Jim, have recently seen all the posts re powered trailer movers, but just noted your comment, with jack wheel, you can move around the 19 by muscle power alone? Just wondered since looks like the 19 is the way we'll go so we can put a canoe or kayak on the roof of the tug...or a 21 if there is demand and Reace decides to make a queen rear bed in the 21, the pics of the 21 currently in production looks soooo spacious.

Looks like it's going to be next year before we can get our Escape...but I'll be in Calgary from Oct.28-31 this year and would love to see your 19 especially with the new cork floor, have a great time at the Escape Rally - maybe next year or 2015 for us.

Turning a single-axle trailer in place is a lot easier than moving it. A tandem - like the Escape 19' or 21' - is another thing entirely as the tires must scrub sideways to turn the trailer.

I'm interested in Jim's comments, as I would expect this to be difficult with a tandem, although it would depend on the surface (in this case, slippery would be good).


Thinking a bit more about this, I suppose letting the tongue jack down as low as possible would both reduce load on the small jack wheel (making it easier to move) and transfer most of the axle load to the leading axle, letting the trailing axle's tires slip around more easily, and becoming almost a single-axle trailer.

I removed my tongue wheel from my trailer storage box. No point dragging around useless weight. Only place I found it of any use was in my totally flat, concrete carport.

I move my trailer around quite a bit in camp sites with my tongue wheel. On dirt or gravel pads I always have a wood 2x6 to throw under the tongue wheel to keep it from 'plowing' into the gravel.

Adrian, if the ground is level and either paved or hard, I can manoeuvre the trailer around on my own. Turning it is usually easier that trying to push, but with my wife's help we can move it around to suit. It is not exactly like pushing a baby carriage or anything, but it can be done without too much trouble.
