No. No. No

ETI has indicated when they open on April 1st.

Anyone can Google : what time is it in British Columbia

This is an easy way to find out what time it is somewhere!!!

If ETI is operating on Pacific Standard Time on April 1, they will probably be the only business in B.C. to do so. British Columbia changes to Pacific Daylight Time tomorrow.

If you are in LA, just look at your watch. We are in the same time zone.

Anyone want to start a petition to get rid of the stupidity of "Daylight Savings Time"?

This confuses a lot of people. In Unix operating systems, it was conventional to designate a time zone in a way which provides the name (e.g. Pacific), and explicitly the number of hours offset from GMT during standard time (8 for Pacific), and whether or not Daylight Saving Time is observed... so for most of B.C. TZ=PST8PDT... and I see that tools such as Time Zone Converter now support this convention. Even that isn't good enough because not every area "springs forward" or "falls back" on the same date, so now there is a huge agreed list of time zones and supporting database to describe them.

Potential buyers from Mexico (except border areas) should note that they will still be on Standard Time on April 1st, while Chilliwack will be on Daylight Savings Time. If anyone wants an Escape stuck in a shipping container and sent to another continent, they'll probably be in a place that doesn't switch to DST at all.

It would be an uphill battle. Found this on one of the news sites today:

Except for Hawaii, most of Arizona and U.S. overseas territories, the United States and about 70 countries worldwide have Daylight Saving Time — sometimes known as “Summer Time” abroad.

Germany was the first country to observe DST (in 1916, during World War I) in order to conserve coal. The practice, used during wartime, spread to other European countries and the United States. After World War II, it was up to individual states in the U.S. to decide whether or not they wanted to use it. The Uniform Time Act of 1966 established consistent start and end dates. And the Energy Policy Act of 2005 added four more weeks to DST, and went into effect in 2007.

I no longer care about DST.
I'm retired. I get up when I wake up. No alarm clock. It's dark when I go to bed.
The anecdote used on the radio recently to describe DST was originated by an aboriginal ( according to the story ).
Only a white man would cut two inches off the bottom of a blanket and sew it to the top, thinking that would make a longer blanket.

Actually, most parts of AZ observe MST all year long. One CA legislator is trying to get a bill passed to put it to a vote as to whether to abolish DST. Recent news stories tell of an increase in heart attack and stroke the day of change.

Yes, battling stupidity usually is, even when only half the planet is being stupid.

DST was great for a narrow range of latitudes, in an era before communication across time zones was common, when lighting was difficult and activities generally followed the sun. In this century, it is only a source of confusion; at my latitude, it just doesn't work... at least with the shift dates currently used, which we had to change to avoid even worse confusion when the U.S. government decided to play with them.

Don't get me started about timekeeping in UNIX Brian - might have to explain epoch time...

Hi: All... You guys/gals think you're confused. We gained an hour from Fl. to Ala.(CST) then lost it in Ky.(EST), only to Lose it again at home(DST)!!! We did do some two timing in Gulf Shores as we only changed one clock in the trailer. What time's lunch? LoL Alf

Much better in VMS - a clunk (100 ns) is a wonderful thing... you might need to look that up.

Our first trip to Osoyoos found us arriving at the border crossing at 9am thinking it was empty for that time of day. Upon arriving at the CG we found the office was closed?
We then realized we had not reset our clocks on the trip out, it was only 6 am vs 9am on our watches.....

Regarding DST, it's time for THE quote: I have this on my office wall; I find daily application of it.

From Friedrich Schiller, about 1800, from the play The Maid of Orleans:

"Against stupidity the very gods themselves contend in vain."

My suggestion since Daylight Savings? Time starts tonight .... is to give ETI a call on Monday and ask them what time it is there. It's ALWAYS pleasant to talk to any of the girls .... they maybe busy... but a time check to sync watches doesn't take long.

You still have time to order a turbo auto dialer.
