The local shop estimated 2.5 hours labor - the cost will depend on your local rate per hour.

I just dropped it off yesterday, the shop is supposed to contact Dometic and get the ball rolling. I will update the forum when I get more info.

NOTE: Calling Dometic yourself is pointless - the (sales support) folks you get have no information. You MUST take it to an authorized Dometic shop (most RV places.)

Right now it is 87 outside and 78 inside, my single door is 9/38 on 4 bars. I notice mine recovers really slow. In other words I put something warm inside, it shoots up to 45 and stays there for 4-6 hours before starting to drop, then it recovers back down to it's present setting.
How are the Texas people doing with the dual door model? Also I notice some of the newer ones have a label affixed stating "Dometic "high Performance Cooling" to the door?

Ours recovers well Jim. Temp will go up when the wife is cooking and opens the door a few times, but it's back down to the 38 range within an hour or so. We didn't have any labels on the door, but then again Escape might have taken them off.

Hey Jim,
When we were in Florida with the one door (hopefully going to be replaced soon - we hope) that is how long it was taking for the temp to drop, and sometimes it never totally went back down, and after a week or so lots and lots of frost on the fins, required a fair bit of defrosting to get the temps back to 38 or 39.
It really is a pain....

I wonder about the "HPC" labels? Is this another improvement? I'm trying to tack down Reace.

This morning I noticed that the Dometic 5.0 in my trailer was at 45.2F. Outside temp was 79F. Sun was beating on that side of the trailer.
Mentioned it to Leslie, who pressed on the fridge door and we heard a click as it closed properly.
Leslie then buried her face in her hands and crawled under the covers.

Did anyone get a chance to ask Reace if there is a case number with Dometic for the fridge swap?

Reace comes through

Yesterday we stopped in to ETI and they switched our single door model for the new two door, a couple of hours later we were on the road and crossed the border with no delays and a minimal discussion about Escape and the quality of the trailer and of the owners. The fridge looks great, I hugged it once and it works like it should, of course it's quite cool here in the Seattle area.

Jack that is great! We are still patiently waiting for a contact to get ours done locally. We will be traveling soon and am not looking forward to keeping tabs on the fridge this summer. Canada is not in our plans this year. Hopefully we will get an answer soon. Glad Chico has cold chicken!!
