That's my assumption, based on Reace's original message, but that's really a question we need to take to him. I don't know how this works yet. His message leads me to believe that he's figuring it out now also. I need to go to our storage unit before I can get my info to send him. In the meantime, if anyone has any feedback from ETI about the process, I'd love to hear it.

I have a 17A on order and am working on my build list. I could order the 4.3 refer ($200. Can) or stick to the standard 3.0. The 3.0 is pretty small ..... if anyone has that model - how's it doing?
Haven't heard anyone speaking up about the 3.0. ..... Suggestions?

I have the 3.0 but I travel alone so it works very well for me. I have plenty of room in both the refer and freezer section. With regard to cold drinks, I just keep a case of Coke in my truck and put one of those in the refer when I take my afternoon drink out. (Not a beer drinker so having multiple cold drinks is not an issue for me.) There's plenty of room in the freezer to take several frozen (individual) chicken breast/steak/meatballs/prawns/soup/hamburger patty/whatever. I have two flat (disposable-type) plastic containers that I use for fresh greens, etc. I have to replenish those if I'm gone too long, but I would anyway with a regular-sized refer. Despite earlier postings, half-gallon milk in the door along with condiments. Half-gallon (carton) of OJ on the side in the bottom of the refer. It works for me.
Note: This refer is slightly bigger than the Coleman cooler I have (which also needed a block of ice). That's how I judged it would be big enough for me when deciding on the 3.0 versus the 4.3.

I had the 3.0 in my 17B, and it served us fairly well. That was a 2012 Escape model, don't know if Dometic has changed anything or not since then.

Thanks Karen and Santacruzer..... I'm kinda leaning towards the smaller unit with the idea of having one or two Yeti (or similar) coolers in the TV if I need more volume. For looooog trips into the back country have one packed with dry ice or for more modest trips another packed with water ice or both.
One advantage for having the smaller unit is less energy consumption. Refrigeration is power hungry!
Thanks for your help,
Tom

we have a 2008 17B and have the smaller fridge--never an issue with us..
I would have liked a bigger fridge at times--but no worry as we are usually travelling so easy enough to find a store to buy stuff. The freezer works very well (even in the heat of Yellowstone and Osoyoos) Both propane and plug in.Our longest trip so far has been just over three weeks--but I usually want to stop for fresh veggies etc and we only buy 2 liters of milk at a time.
Sometimes we bring our 12v cooler along which travels in the car. It is mainly used for my US Costco trips--but has been known to come on holidays for "extra" beer and wine".. Heck one of the things Doug was so pleased about with even this little freezer was that he could have ice cream when camping! And yes, it has been done..
And this fridge is bigger than what we had in the Boler and we had it for 12 years and survived a barely working freezer...

coolers
Our son bought a cooler called, I believe Canyon, looks like a yetti but a better price. He takes it in the VW bus and ice lasts several days.

Post #1 may be good news for those with the 6.7 RML8555, but does not address those with the 4.3 RM8551. So I can understand the frustration for those who have almost new trailers that are not being offered a whole new unit but only a door.

There is another thread for that model, we are trying to keep model discussions separate, depending on your particular circumstance. http://www.escapeforum.org/forums/f3...html#post88051

Having worked in the cellular industry when coverage originally wasn't so great my best advice to customers with carrier issues was to employ Polite Persistence.

I must have understood (nothing new there) but I was under the impression that new doors were available for the 4.3 also. I've sent in my request but haven't heard anything back yet.

I thought Reace asked 4.3 owners to contact him by email ( at ETI not through this forum ), but I can't locate that post.

Please don't send a pm to me through this site. You will receive far better service if you send an email to me at the escape email.
