Escape 5.0 TA Update

Well I made it back today with the bottom half of the 5.0 TA mold!
Sorry, no photos yet...it is a bit of a mad scramble to get it ready for production. Today it is having the end pipes installed so it can sit on the rotisserie. Tomorrow it will be washed, polished and waxing will begin Sunday. The top half is expected to be ready late Tuesday...so I will be there Wednesday early ready to load!

Hoo Hoo...Here we go...!!!

Reace

Thanks for the update Reace, great to hear it's starting to move along. Sounds like you're going 7 days a week now, appreciate the effort.

Pictures would be nice. Maybe a video. Or even a 24/7 web cam. We can call it the Escape cam!

When I bought my first fiberglass camper, I didn't know fiberglass was addictive. Kim was so kind to find an opening in June for my 19, so I can move up from November. I'm psyched!

Although the 21 is a beautiful RV, I preferred the layout of the 19. Never ordered the 21. (unless I could have both)

Does anyone know if the specs on ETI's site see for the new or old 5 ie. dimensions of bathroom etc. - anyone know the dimensions of the lower body not the loft/ bed part?

The listed weights and measurements under "specifications" are for the single axle 5.0.

If this works, here's the dimensions out of the brochure, the whole doc was too big to copy to the forum.

Those are the old specs. Since there isn't a production model yet, none of us have specs. Other than to know the new 5er is wider and taller than the Classic.

Ok so they are for the "old" 5 - I see 19'-6". I'm assuming that's the entire length- does anyone know the main level size? Not including the sleeping loft area- basically what is the size you cook, live in rather than sleep in, it would give some idea how much space there is to move around in.

For the most part, the 5er is identical to the 21' from the leading edge of the door to the rear. You can subtract the length of the queen bed and the hitch and come up with a reasonable idea of the rear area in the 5er. Then subtract 48" (rear dinette). Now you have a better idea of walking length. I believe the counter length is 63". If that helps.

That is presumably the new 5.0 TA.

The pin box doesn't extend significantly beyond the body, so essentially just the queen bed length (should be 80" if actual Queen) and a bit more for the curve of the front of the body - plus the bumper - need to be subtracted from the overall length to get the length of the full-height body portion.

The image of specs from the brochure was for the old 5.0 "classic": in addition to the length, it has the 6'8" width shared with the 13 ', 15', and 17'.

Hi: All... How long is a 5.0TA? Only Reace knows and then without an actual assembled model hard to judge. I see from the pic. of the last 5.0 built looks like Reace has changed the pin box to a 6 bolt, bolt on style, not the welded on Atwood of old. Also in conversation with him I believe he told me the counter length went from 44" to 56" and we are getting the extension at the door,as in a 19'er, for even more counter space.
I know they're working overtime and I too am anxious to view an in the skin trailer. Alf

Sorry, I read the question wrong, thought you were asking about the old 5.0, hence the old specs I posted.

Hi Chapi,
If you take a look at the video on Norma's Shutterfly site, you'll get an idea of the living space planned for the 5.0TA.
Just ignore the bed and bath in the video & I'm guessing the 5.0 bathroom will start where the chest of drawers is on our 21.

I noticed that the demonstration 5.0 at the factory last year had a vertical pinbox, instead of the 34-degree Atwood that Alf mentioned. I didn't realize that the upper section might be bolted into the trailer structure; I assumed all were welded.

The new 5.0 TA might return to the old pinbox, or use yet another design. My impression of the vertical one on the demo unit was that it was very short (in height) and might have been chosen to reduce the minimum spacing from the pin level to the trailer structure, perhaps to accommodate the ever-increasing height of fifth-wheel hitches due to tall trucks; that would not be required to the same extent with the new model, which is deliberately taller for the same truck clearance reason.
