“Escaping Reality” is home :-)

Wednesday I picked up “Escaping Reality” and brought her back to a loving home. Needless to say I was as excited as a little boy at Christmas time. I had fretted about backing her on to the parking pad; the alley was narrow, the gate was narrow and so on, but when the time came and with a little patients she went right back there.

Of course by the time we got home "Escaping Reality" was dirty from all the road spray she needed a good bath.

Did you run the trailer thru a car wash?

17B with AC. How tall is that, anyway? Just might fit in some car washes...(or are you pulling our leg?).

Beautiful trailer! Just love the pictures. How does Gonzo like it?

There are truck washes ( big enough for semi trucks ).
But, I'd like to hear more about the experience, given the vents and stacks on the roof.

Just noticed the mirror extensions. Did they help or were the standard 4Runner mirrors enough?

Truck (and RV) washes are normally "wand wash" setups: a room with a spray wand on a hose that you use to wash the vehicle - no automated brushes. I've used them for both our trailer and our motorhome, and reaching the top is the challenge in both cases.

Some brush washes keep the vehicle stationary and work around it - a trailer would need to be unhitched to be washed in one of those unless it was exceptionally long. Other brush washes have the vehicle drive through, or pull it through with a chain - one of those could work for a tug and trailer.

Like Bagolo, my big concern about an RV for me in any brush-type car wash (other than simply if it fits) is the "stuff" on the trailer (antennas, awnings, air conditioner, vents, propane tanks, whatever) that the brushes might catch.

The Jack antennas feel pretty delicate, a car wash would be the end of mine.

The 4Runner mirrors will do let you see along side but since it'd been 25 or 30 years since I'd towed a tag-a-long I wanted a better view for changing lanes and especially backing onto the pad.

Yep, pulling your leg, (shame on me) I asked about the height and mine is just under 9'.

Gonzo isn't quite sure what to make of it yet. Here he's "checkin' out the front dinette", I turned the cushions over to keep him off the fabric.

Don't worry, once he gets used to it and stakes out his territory, the trailer is HIS.

Congratulations on making it back with your new Escape! The dog is beautiful, too, and looks right at home.
