Had the MW fly open on our last trailer on a washboard road at Fundy NP, the glass rotating plate put a good dent in the stove top then smashed, the replacement cost near as much as the MW. This one doesn't ride in the MW, the bread won't do much damage.

Maybe that's why there's a sticker on the microwave that says to remove the glass plate under tow (or some such language)? Part of my departure checklist says to remove the plate and stuff it under the mattress in the loft. YMMV

We kept the styrofoam packing that came with our mickey wave's plate. I replace the styro every time we roll. It's a tight fit and great for travel.

A couple of rolls of paper towels would also do the trick, I'd think.
