Thanks Tammy for the update. Seems every day here in the US we face another bureaucracy imposing new rules, and it's too bad you folks were affected by this. Good to hear you've made some progress.

Unfortunately I don't think owning a Canadian trailer gets you any points on the Canadian immigration system! Don't ask me how I know this!

Hi: captmath... I can see it all now!!! Long lines of Escape trailers at the border crossings migrating north. Usually a time when things start to wind down... this Movemember could be a busy travel month. Alf

I already looked into it. For some reason Canada doesn't want a lot of aging retired Baby Boomer immigrants.

Don't worry Tammy. If they won't let you across and you have a craving for something, Wine,Cheese, Beer, etc. we'll get to you. Iowa Dave knows how to skin a Muskrat with an Air Compresser. We can tie it inside and float it across. How bout it Dave you in

Tammy

Considering all the money that the U.S. has made because of Escapes, one would think you'd get better treatment...
I think you are wise to bypass the less than optimal border person and deal with someone higher up the ladder...go get'em!

Yup, treat the border agent you deal with like a loaded gun. IMHO they have an inordinate amount of power. If they bar you from entry going higher up is usually unproductive. Their decision is their decision. There are Canadians who have owned houses 5 min. from the border in Point Roberts, WA who had to sell their house because one agent in particular barred them from entry.

I agree law enforcement officers have a lot of discretionary power, but we should not fear them but respect them. Let's not forget, we pay their salaries, they work for us. Now if thry ask for a raise, that is another subject......

That's the right tack. The border officials aren't the police. They have a charter with a very specific set of responsibilities and powers. If they exceed those, the best approach is to be respectful, end the encounter as quickly and peaceably as possible, then make a complaint through official channels. Believe me, the ones who are a problem will be found out if the citizenry complains enough about them.

Wow - all exports temporarily suspended

I would show them a lot of respect, because they do wield a lot of power.
