Precisely the adapter I have on my list to buy.
I want to plug into the site power pole and plug my circuit tester into the 15 amp side to check polarity, ground etc.

Don't know if you "need" it, but it comes in handy when you want power for lights and such and you're parked at home where you don't normally have a 30 amp plug.
The 20 amp power wouldn't be enough to run things like the A.C., but it would allow the batteries to charge as well.

For that purpose, you need a 15 male to 30 female.
The one shown by OP is 30 male to 15 female.

Adapter kit
Once in a while you'll be in a campground where the 30 amp does not work but the 20 amp will. It will get you by for the night. The 30 to 50 also comes in handy when the 30 is worn out and will not snap in tight. So two adapters for universal dependability. Be Prepared is the motto of the Boy Scouts.

To do that you need male 20 with female 30. That's how my 50 is plugged in now. What they gave me was reversed. By the way AC runs fine. Pulling 15 amps.

I get that, but they have to have a 30 amp female side to accept my power cord....

Think I'm going crazy or I've drank too much wine. That adapter makes no sense to me. What would you plug in the back of that thing. Guess you could plug a hair dryer directly to shore power supplied by the campsite..

30-15
I have actually used that adapter twice in 2+ years.
Let's say your heavy duty cord won't quite reach the power pole, or your pole isn't working and you need more length to reach another one.
You plug in the 30-15 to the pole, then use your hopefully fairly heavy amp extension cord, then your 15-30 adapter into your extension cord into which you plug your trailer cord.
Now you're back in business.
Just remember to use powered items one at a time--and don't forget to switch off your electric water heater--since everything is running through that lighter duty extension cord.

Hi: Chotch... Over the years and trailers bought/sold we have amassed a collection of adapters to every power poss. know to campers. We have at least one if not doubles and use them rarely. We now have a 30 amp. dedicated circuit for an RV in the garage and use adapters even less. Alf

If you have a current monitor in the trailer & pay attention to it and control use to limit the current within the limits of the lighter cord, it would be safe, however that is a lot of "attention" that many won't follow.
A better solution is to carry a 30 amp extension cord, or plug the lighter cord into the 15/20 amp receptacle at the campground pedestal so that the pedestal breaker protects the cord by limiting the current to 15/20 amps. Even then, at 20 amps, at least a #12 extension cord would be required, larger than most carry.
