Good point, Jim - even a pressure cooker has a set pressure, and will release steam and air to avoid exceeding that pressure. Unless that set pressure is exceeded, nothing comes out.

With an open vent hole, the Can Cooker is a zero-pressure pot... like any pot with a lid. Of course, some pots have nicer-fitting lids than others, and some are shaped better for steaming than others; the Can Cooker is designed for closed steam cooking.

Other than a small griddle to go on our grill, and a small electric kettle, our Magma set is all we have to cook with, and sometimes we feel that is too much. We have removed a serving bowl or two, and just use the pots we are not cooking with for that use.

Oh yeah, we do have a mixing bowl to save the coating on the pots.

What you describe is what our stock pot with a lid does. It will steam things quickly. I have to be missing something here, and am interested to see this pot, just to set things straight in me wee heed.

Well, I bought some OldBay today and I'm hoping to steam some shrimp in beer with Old Bay in the Can Cooker at the rally. If it is good as it sounds, I'll have some samples. I'll be easy to find, just follow your nose....

The times are identical. Maybe there is a parallel universe and your universe may be a nanosecond ahead of the other or maybe the moderators were goofing around.

My brother-in-law has a Can Cooker, and he loves it. I don't think it's something I'll add to my collection of bring-alongs, but for someone who doesn't already have a bunch of cooking equipment, I can see it.
