Can Cooker
I just got one.planning on bringing it to Osoyoos and try to make frogmore stew. Be careful, the hold down clamps are harder than the aluminum and I had a bunch of dents and sharp edges just playing with it. I called the manufacturer and they said to contact Amazon (poor customer service on their part) Amazon sent me another one right away (great customer service on their part) and the second one has one clamp in the right position where it does not eat into the soft metal, I put some duct tape on the other clamp. Made in china with poor quality control.

Can Cooker
I purchased a Can Cooker for our upcoming trip to Hunting Island SC next week. Has anyone used one and can anyone recommend some recipes they like?

You will also need the steamer insert shown as an accessory. You start with potatoes and corn on the cobb with salt and pepper and steam in beer and water for about 15-20 minutes, add some sausage and onions and some hot sauce for another 15 minutes, then throw in the shrimp and Old Bay for the last 15 minutes. Cover a table with newspaper, dump and enjoy.

Awesome! Thanks. I did purchase the rack that goes on the bottom. Is that what you refer to?

yes and you may have to place a couple of empty soda/beer aluminum cans underneath the rack to elevate it off the liquid for better steaming vs boiling. You can probably boil the potatoes and corn but then raise it for the rest of the ingredients for steaming. this is where the name "can cooker" comes from. cooking with cans. Let s know how it turns out and post pictures...

I had never heard of one either. Looks like a great way to cook especially while camping…set it up, sit around, then eat. Thanks to you all!

The Can Cooker is a pot intended to be used closed, including as a steamer. Although the lid has clamps, it has an open vent so it won't build any significant pressure; it's not a pressure cooker.

Could one not do the same thing with a pot and a lid, as you do with this Can Cooker? Or, am I missing something here? Our Magma set has nice thick bottoms which transfer heat evenly, which is something nice for slow cooking, or stewing.

It is similar to a low pressure cooker, faster than stove top and crock pot. Plus like all pressure cookers, it allows the release of the pressure slowly and controlled.

Have you used one, Jim? Just curious as to what makes it any quicker, as others have said it doesn't use pressure, which would be needed to speed things along. If in fact it does pressure up, I could see it being useful, if you like this kinda dish.
You need to do up a couple meals, and video it, to show us what it can do, and your thoughts on its performance.

Also, what size is best -- Has anyone used the large one? I could picture using this for family campouts as well as when we're camping just the two of us -- probably need small and large
