Escape just started carrying a cover for the 5.0-TA. They got it in stock the day before I picked up my new trailer, so I bought one and brought it home with me. Installed it yesterday. It was a bit challenging getting it to fit just right. Came with 3 straps and we needed to add 4 ropes to tie together the various D-rings in the overhang area. Lots of extra fabric, making the cover more than a bit baggy. It was designed for a 23 foot long, 8 foot wide, 11-12 foot tall fifth wheel. Think about putting a toddler's diaper on a newborn.
Hoping this will hold up over time, but not confident that the baggy fabric will hold up well in the wind.
Protected the solar panel edges by purchasing pipe insulation--the kind which looks like a pool noodle with a slit in it. Just slid the noodles along the front and rear edges of the solar panel. Need to buy another for the sides just to be safe.
If anyone else buys one of these, I could sure use some advice on how to put the blasted thing on. The directions say to walk on the roof, but I chose not to and we spend 2 hours trying to get the cover installed.
Here is what we did:
Step 1 lay out tarps on ground
Step 2 lay out cover right side up on tarps
Step 3 fold sides in so they are over the white top
Step 4 roll up from both sides so that the 2 rolls meet between the AC and MaxxFan
Step 5 tie the two rolls together (don't skip this step)
Step 6 put this on the roof between the AC and MaxxFan
Step 7 unroll forward and partially relax the forward part of the sides--I popped up through the escape hatch at this point to help get the cover over the nose
Step 8 crudely adjust the front of the cover around the nose of the trailer
Step 9 pull any slack back to the remaining roll of cover
Step 10 unroll the cover over the back end
Step 11 try to center the cover left to right (don't skip this step or you may have difficulty opening and closing the door with the door flap rolled up)
Step 12 install the 3 straps under the trailer
Step 13 connect and tighten the straps across the front and back
Step 14 add 4 thin ropes to tie the D-rings under the overhang
Wishing you all better success than we had.
