Hose-Grip: Love it!

This past weekend I was at a campground I've been at before, so it was nice to compare trying to hook up the hose from previous visits compared to this visit. In the past many times I've not hooked up my water hose (at any campground, not just this one) as I was never able to get it tight enough. I detest water leaking all over the place, so I'd just fill my fresh water tank and use that instead of the hose.

I have tendonitis in my hands and therefore the strength in my hands is really low. So, I was intrigued by a blurbie/ad for the Hose-Grip in the October 2017 issue of Trailer Life. Finally got around to ordering it.

Hooked it up - and there wasn't any water leakage! Wonderful! Well worth the money ($27.99 ppd for one).

I use the rubber gloves I use for hooking up the sewer hose. IF I don't have a sewer connection, I use a new pair of gloves. And afterward keep them for when I dump. IF I have a sewer connection, I hookup the fresh water hose first. I'm losing the ability to grasp things tightly, rubber gloves really help me.

Me too! When I emailed the guy telling him how much I liked it, I suggested they have something similar for the other end. I've not checked to see if it'll work at the trailer end.

A suggestion for those of us with grip issues myself included go find yourself a ball of therapy wax n just gently squeeze it while watch tv or driving down the road it has helped my wife n me greatly. Our therapist gave each a ball of it after our therapy was over our grips have greatly improved over time . Just a thought to help out

You might not be the only one suffering this affliction, Kate.

I just use a quick connect from Home Depot. Costs about $5 and you only put the trailer side on one-time. At the campground hose just Quick connects to the trailers-no leaks so far in several years.

How do you cover it when not in use, Greg?

I don't cover it when not in use, but I suppose one could easily fashion a small rubber bolt cap to top it if you wanted to.

In my experience, a wine cork will do just fine. I have to empty a bottle of wine now and then just to keep stocked up in case I need a cork.

Dirk got me some of those and I still had problems with 'em.

We use quick release fittings on every hose connection excepting the one to the spigot itself. Just ordered a Hose Grip for that one!

It’ll go onto our brass pressure regulator,

which quick releases to a short hose to the water filter

which quick releases to the main hose

which quick releases either into a filler thingie

or onto a quick release that’s permanently on the city water inlet

With cap when not in use.

One other nice aspect of this setup is that you can completely seal the filter and hose independently so they don’t have to be drained and won’t leak

These are the quick releases we use. They’re the highest quality ones I could find. Happy with them for two years of use so far. An occasional spritz of silicone if they ever get sticky then they’re buttery smooth again. All the quick releases mean everything goes together quickly and easily, with the only threading required at the spigot.

I'm excited to try this, seems to be dropping things way more than I used to - forget opening bottles, thats history. Where can I buy this therapy wax, and how much should I get? Marilyn

Hi Marilyn,
Look on amazon under hand wax therapy . There they have it along with dipping machine which work wonders. You can get the wax in several different scents if you so choose to we have one of the machines and it’s the best thing we’ve ever got for our hands and wrist in my case hope you have as good as result in pain relief as we have. We hate taking meds for pain just get a package and take out enough for a comfortable hand for for squeezing

Used this exact one as well at the trailer inlet for the last 6 years, works slick with no more squirting because the connection isn't tight enough. I tighten it up with a wrench at the beginning of the season and it doesn't come off until I winterize.

Thank you! Us old timers have to stick together, and I hate taking RX for things that can be handled naturally.
