Oh, absolutely. Well, maybe a few extra "just in case" tools and maybe a few spares

I tried to apply for temporary tags online in Polk County, TX, and was unsuccessful. Dave walked into the office in Bexar County, TX, and walked out with two 30 day permits. They told him online requests would not be issued in a case like ours.

I'm confused. Are you saying the county makes a difference? The temp tag is the same everywhere, No? I just entered the vin, paid the fee and printed the temp tag at home. Or was it that your vin would not go through?

We tried to get temporary tags online. My VIN would not go through. Dave tried his VIN too and his did not go through either. However, a few days later, he drove to the tax office in Bexar County and they printed one out for him. I was 5 hours away from my tax office in Polk County, so I decided not to chance it. I would hope they would have done the same for me, but we will never know.

Ah, I see. I'm wondering if the whole saga of getting Escape into the US VIN database some time back had something to do with that. In our case, this was before all that and it worked perfectly.
