... not too worried, I get 100+ mpg (49 cc engine) I know any car, 1 ton diesel, and probably even a chain saw pollutes more than my moped

Just found this thread. The wife and I have the Stow model from Volton Bicycles. voltonbicycles.com. We love them pedal for as long as we can then use the electric motor for a time and then pedal some more.

I like those big fat tires on the first one, looks like it may work well in the winter?

I should add that a few RV dealers are now stocking folding electric bikes. We checked one last weekend and they were sold out.

A friend of mine test rode one of these- very affordable. Did hills in Seattle easily.

Yes, especially in sand and rougher trails.

I agree ... I have a Rad Rover ( fat tire) and think its pretty great. Since I bought it, they now have a folding bike as well as a city commuter. In my opinion, they are a very good company and care very much about their product .... a lot like how Escape cares about their customers. I recommend you check them out!
I haven't gotten enough miles on my Rad Rover fat tire bike to write up a review but will soon. Fat tires are great on sand or snow and since Baja is on my mind, I went for the Fat tire .... they also have a very interesting cargo bike. City tires but enough "space" to head off to the laundrymat, grocery store, or for propane. My solar panels @150 watt will keep my charge up .... free gas .... kinda.. More on that later as I get more experience.
Google up Rad Rover bikes and explore. I think electric transportation in the future has huge investment potential. Stay tuned.

Dale,
The website says under 50 lbs. I'm guessing that means 49+. I ordered the touring version with a rack, seat suspension post and fenders. I don't spring for the larger battery. Therefore I'm expecting just over 50 lbs.
This will require the 1UpUSA super duty rack. The FLX's cargo rack and fenders will pose a challenge, but I'll make it work somehow.

Yes, this discussion can be continued forever , but the motorbikes have advantages, especially for people who want to go on a bycicle trip and their health doesn't allow them to do it.

I was looking at Radrover. They have 750 watt motor and I am not sure if that is allowed in Canada without getting a motorcycle license even though they only go 20mph. I was wondering about the solar panels because I don't have them on my trailer. Your post may convince me to drive the 20 miles to Chilliwack and have them installed.

Dian and I are in our 70's now and would still like to explore the dykes and trails. Even scooting around the campsite. We have some young whipper snappers in their 60's, with those fancy mountain bikes, that we camp with. Sure would be nice to catch 'em and pass 'em
