New Thermometer

I purchased this tiny sensor from Amazon several months ago to replace the Accurate that was having trouble with one sensor. I never like the Accurite because you could not tell if the base unit was in contact with the sensor or not. The sensor push advertises a 30 ft range and I found that pretty true depending on walls and wall construction.

In particular, I wanted temperatures while driving and I found this fit the bill and more.

The sensor push requires a smart phone and a download of their free app. It is a pricy little devil at $49 but it works very well. The photo next to a pen shows just how small, you can attach a lanyard or I used velco to fasten it. The reporting is exceptional, there are two screen shots. The first a simple screen of current temperature. The second a gaggle of graphs featuring the highs and lows by the hour, day, week or month.

It is very sensitive and you can see the graph showing meal preparation and door opening or watch it soar when adding fresh groceries. I have not experimented with the alarms.

Paul, what is the name of that setup? Don't see anything on Amazon similar.
I will agree the Accurite is kinda squirrely and I don't trust it a ton. I think sometimes the occasional wierd temp reading I get is the Accurite not being accurate.
My fridge stays in the acceptable range almost all the time, so I'm starting not to monitor it too closely any longer.

I tried one of these last year but could not get any reading once I left the trailer and sat in the tow vehicle.

Would the distance from the fridge in a 21 to the seat in the Ram be pushing the 30' transmission spec?

Our Acu-rite transmits from our Escape 21 to the cab of our truck and we have Reflectix. I like that it has two sensors. We keep one in the freezer (needs lithium batteries) and the other in the fridge. So far our fridge is working well. We will see how it handles the heat this summer near Kelowna.

My experience has been from the 21 to the front seat of my Sequoia. We each have Apple 6+ phones and the reception is similar and consistent. If I want to check temperatures while inside the house, with the trailer immediately adjacent, I have to move to the room closest to the trailer. In other words the 30 feet seems to apply.

While in the car the Accurite system would work occasionally from the middle seat, never from the front. Sensor Push claims to be using a newer version of Bluetooth technology, resulting in increased range. When I bought the unit in April there were 14 reviews on Amazon, it is now up to 70+. I have not read these recent ones but based on scoring it seems pretty good.

The issue will always be the number of uncontrolled variables: your phone, distance from the sensor, and interference (walls).
