TV Antenna with Power Amplifier

With most TV Stations broadcasting in HD or Digital, is the money spent on a TV antenna with a power amplifier worth it?
What about 12 Volt TVs? Are they good value?

Re: TV Antenna with Power Amplifier

You can get HD TV via an antenna and it is spectacular, but you need to be within range. We had a 40 inch set up in the office with a $79 antenna from London Drugs. pointed at Mount Seymour, where the transmitter is, for the winter Olympics. Marketers of course are advertising special HDTV antennas for more money, but what I read is that's just marketing. They add HD to the package and charge more.

Re: TV Antenna with Power Amplifier

Our 110V TV only uses 0.6 amp. so when we don't have a 110V tree out side we use a 400watt inverter and it's good. The 12v TV are pricey. The power antenna uses the trailer 12v and in most small towns we get from 2 to 4 channels some better than others. in Osoyoos we got US. reception better than Can. ones. Spokane was better than cable, go figure.

Re: TV Antenna with Power Amplifier

I purchased a 12V 19" LED TV for $164.00 from the link below. Now the price is only $118.72

It comes with an AC adapter but not the 12V adapter. So I went to Radio Shack and purchased a DC power adapter that fit the TV for $21.00.

I have been using this setup for 7 months now with great results. The power usage is 12 volts @ 3 amps. I left the t.v. & antenna power amplifier on all day. Came back to find the batteries at 100%. Of course this is with the solar panel doing its job.

Attached is a picture of the tv in the escape and the power adapter purchased from Radio Shack.
