The delete key is your friend.

I discovered that when the IT department replaced the OS in my Mac without backing up any of my personal files.
I found that I didn't miss anything. Couldn't remember that it even once existed.

At a computer shop I once worked at in the early 90s we built a custom machine to interface with a 100 Bits per inch tape reader. Took us a while to find a EISA or ISA card to interface with the machine. The owner of the shop wrote the software to import the data into.....Word Star lol. A customer was buying tapes from the feds of people who were owed tax returns. He then looked them up on the phone book CDs .... Once he found them he would offer to help them get the money with a percentage to him of course.

My first software came on IBM 3590 EBCDIC 9-track tapes.

Ouch.

Slightly different track, but some time ago I was talking to a twenty-something kid in a convenience store. I can't remember how the subject came up but he asked me, "What's a hood ornament?"

I can play this game:

I'm formally trained to repair keypunches, some of which used vacuum tubes.

Every seen a grown man cry because he dropped a box of cards representing a weeks worth of work?

In 1975, when I took my first computer programming courses using FORTAN IV, we used key cards. Fortunately, we just had to supply a printed copy of what we wanted punched, and they had staff to do up the cards.

We have advanced just a wee bit since then, eh?

I remember the decks I also remember if you dropped a deck loading it or if you were umm in a mood and slipped an odd card in with a deck. As I understand it, it takes a long time going through the deck one card at a time... But that is just what I heard...
