There is always the option of adding your own custom box. Several of us have made our own. I'm happy with mine.

As for the outside shower, I don't have one. But I do have an opening bathroom window and the thought struck me that if I ever had to rinse off outside I could always reach in and bring the shower head with the flexible hose outside. Don't know if anyone has tried that but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

We have the outside shower and use it all the time when boon docking.
I take the all-weather mat out of the RAV rear floor well and put it down to prevent mud from splashing up.

I'm planing on getting the outside shower but I've seen posts that it's not used often. Seems like a good idea for washing dishes outside, washing kids hands,....
Outside shower is useful for washing dishes -will not fill up your grey tank . Also getting sand off feet , making cleaning up your dog etc. you could have a pan for your feet . Our camper had 35 gal fresh water so we have to bring water and be very conservative in our use if we are not at a campground with our trailer at 20 gal .The front box also protects your trailer from damage and . your batteries are in there too . At first we weren't going to get box because of cost ,but it is another favorite item we are sure glad to have thanks to Kim explaining what the positives were . It has a Rhino like coating on it . So far very happy with our Escape and wouldn't change anything .

I have always been concerned with the front of the trailer getting beat up from rocks but Tammy explained that we could get the lower front of the trailer coated or get the storage box which is also coated. We want the double 6 volt batteries and if they would go in the storage box rather than on the back bumper, that would be great. We have plenty of room in the truck box with the toneau cover. In reading this forum, a solid decision is being made on many options. The latest is the opening bathroom window. As for a budget, that went out the window a long time ago. Loren

I believe that only the 17' mounts the battery (or batteries) on the rear bumper, for balance. Other models use the tongue or interior locations, for both single-battery and dual-battery configurations.
