We went ahead and sent in our build sheet yesterday. I know that we actually have until next May to get it in, but we've pretty much known which options were important to us from the beginning, so figured why wait. And maybe this way I won't drive my wife crazy for the next year. The only thing that we may eventually add would be the storage box. While I would really like to have it, $700 seems like a lot of money right now.

We sent our build sheet early also but didn't sign it until 2 weeks before the due date. After getting the sheet down to just the options you are pretty sure you want made it feel much less overwhelming. We did make a few changes in the months between sending in the original sheet and signing but we didn't worry and fret about each little thing like before. Now we are getting a few things together to outfit the trailer. We leave 9/30 on our pick up trip.

We may make an addition or two before signing off, but I agree, it does make it seem less overwhelming now that it's basically in. And it also gave us a good picture of what our actual cost will be so that we can plan accordingly between now and then. I know you are excited about your upcoming trip, it will be here before you know it. Congratulations.

Greg and Teresa, we kind of did the same, turning in the build sheet early. But, I still remember what Reace said when I told him I'd submitted my "final" build sheet. He just chuckled and said "Final"?

Turned out we changed it again about 4 times. None of the changes incurred a change fee however, because they were submitted before the 'final' date.

Wow, you guys are really early birds. If you can take advantage of the exchange rate, the storage box will be less than $700. I ordered the storage box to first protect the front of the trailer, and second for the storage. I was back and forth on having the front of the trailer protected with Line-X but will wait and see how it works out. They do protect the storage box with Line-X. Loren

You guys are so fortunate to be able to get an Escape "on Sale" at 25% off. On a $32K 19' unit for less than $25k on sale is really nice, grab that exchange rate difference when you can.

Fortunately I never said the word "Final" when I sent the list in to Tammy

. Heck, I'm already thinking we may want to add the U-shaped dinette, and that wasn't on our list, so that would be one change. But my plan is to leave the list as is until we get closer to when it has to be final, and then submit any changes then.

We went ahead and sent a check for $15,000 US to Escape late last week. Today they deposited it with a conversion rate of $1.2980, so translates to $19,470 Canadian...wow. We may have to send them some more at this rate.

how did you send it? did you use regular mail or fedexp it?

We sent it via UPS so that we could track it's every movement. Sent it on Friday and it got there yesterday. I think it cost around $98. When we talked with Tammy, that is what she suggested. She said that if we used regular mail, it could take a couple of weeks to get there. So we sent it and immediately sent Tammy an email letting her know it was coming and when to expect it.

When I sent in my final payment, I sent it registered mail. The USPS, in doing its stellar job, routed it to Tokyo, Japan, and it took 3 weeks to get to Chilliwack. I would go the FedEx route.

Wow! Our Escape will be ready in early January but we sent in most of the $$ last month. When the rate got to $1.26 we just had to do it. You got nearly 1.30!!! Those extra 4 cents really add up when talking in the tens of thousands of dollars!

Seems the USPS is anything if not inconsistent. We mailed a check, regular first class mail, in December of 2014 and it got there in 5 days. Total cost was $1.26.

Greg and Teresa,

Kentuckian here, seriously considering getting in the queue any day for a 21. Like you, my husband is not retired, so that long, long trip is not an option. PLUS, we are absolute rookies! Never been camping (well, tent camping a few times - don't like tents), never pulled a dang thang in our lives.

If it turns out that we do pull the trigger soon, maybe our girls could come home on the same truck and save us both some money (maybe enough for that box! )?

Another Tennessean here; have 21' with U-dinette being hatched 6/16. I, too, am unable to make that long drive so will be having new one delivered. Go on and make that decision and get good rates now; also, we could possibly split delivery rates with Greg and Teresa making costs much more affordable. Give it some thought.
