Escape will be our next, but which one?

Hi All - I've lurked here for awhile but decided it's time to come out in the open! Hubby and I currently have a 2011 Casita Liberty which we are happy with for the time being. We are going to upgrade to an Escape 19 or 21 or perhaps the upcoming 5.1 in about a year. After looking exhaustively at all our FG options and some conventional trailers, like so many of you, we keep coming back to Escape.

Am hoping to look at a current 5.0 and a 19 soon after getting contact info for owners in the New England area. I know there aren't many

This is a great forum!

Marcie,
There is an Escape rally this upcoming weekend at Niagara Falls, On as seen here http://www.escapeforum.org/forums/f1...cape-2066.html
maybe 8 hours away, but there will be Escape 5th and 19 there. I'll probably have the closest Escape 21' to you once mine arrives in December. Contact Escape for any other units that maybe nearby or check out the owners map above.
Also, welcome to our Escape world....

Hi Marcia, and welcome aboard.

You can't go wrong with any of the models you are looking at, it is just figuring out which one fits your camping lifestyle the best.

Hi Marcia

Welcome as well to our world (well not quite yet ours since we've not got an Escape yet but we shall). We were thinking 19 and 5.0 as well and have seen both but now looking at maybe downsizing to the 17. There'll be a 17b at Niagara as well. You don't need to bring your Casita, the campground has a motel, and despite an eight hour drive there's lots to see and do in Niagara (especially the wine tasting!)

Thanks for the info about Niagara. If our 6 year old granddaughter's birthday party wasn't on Saturday, we'd be there! Appreciate knowing about it though and will be interested in any others coming up. We spend the winter in FL so anything there we could make it to.

Hmm, thanks for the offer to see your 21 when it arrives, cpaharley2008, we might just bug you on our way to FL this winter or the way home.

Marcia,

There is a fiberglass rally in NY state the first weekend of Oct (just west of Springfield, MA.) The Copake, NY Fall Egg Rally 10/4-10/6/2013 at Copake KOA Campground. We'll be there with our 2013 Escape 5.0.

Also, we live about 2 hours south of you in RI and will be happy to show off our trailer.

Tim and Lynne

I truly don't think anyone here on the forums can explain/decision the best trailer for YOU. They are ALL wonderful. This may very well be the 2nd or 3rd biggest asset you own. Don't depend on US to make that decision for you. Even if you have to drive for hours or miss a event in your life... it's your future and your dollars. Choose wisely.

Best of luck!

Thanks, Tim. We are planning to be in RI the weekend of Sept. 28, so maybe we could make a date to come by and see your 5.0. That would be great!

Oh no, Donna, we don't think anyone else can influence that decision for us! Even narrowing it down to 3 Escape models makes it a lot easier and we plan to see all 3 before we make the final choice. You are exactly right about how important that is.

Thanks everyone for being so helpful!

We'll be camped at Horseneck Beach in Westport that weekend. You're certainly welcome to stop by.

Anything bigger than a 17, and you're just a big trailer wannabe!

Wow a week earlier and I could have shown you a 2012 19 in your driveway :-) I was on my annual westward migration from the Maritimes to Southern Ontario via 95 > 495 > Mass Pike > Thruway. Overnighted Tuesday at the Walmart Supercenter in Portsmouth and quick stops Wednesday morning on both sides of you (NH Liquor Store ;-) and the Rockingham Mall).

For me the biggest benefit of the 19 (and now also the new 21) is the interior height. Check those specifications carefully. Those extra 3 inches make a huge comfort difference if your tall (I'm 6'2").

Thank you. We would love to stop by if you tell us which day, Sat. or Sun. is more convenient for you and what time. I was only at Horseneck once and that was 45 years ago. I don't think they had camping there then.

Sorry we missed you, Burloak. The NH Liquor Store is only 20 minutes away, so it would've been easy. Hope you had a good trip home. Thanks for reminding us to be careful on the specs! I'm short but claustrophobic and hubby is 6'

We just moved up to a 19' after 6 years in a Casita 17'. It's more then two-foot itis. It's the added width, added height, a queen size bed, a front box, a permanent dinette, a larger kitchen, and I could keep going but all this for almost the same weight as the 17' Casita. Just double the price but hey, life is short enjoy it!
