Future Escape Owner

Hello everyone. I have been lurking around here for the better part of eight months. After labor day we are going to take a leisurely drive to Chilliwack and probably order a 19 footer. We have been looking for several years and a year ago we were in Rice, Texas looking at the Casitas. My wife, Cathy thought the bed was kind of small but we were pretty sure that was it. I had looked at the Escape web sight and when I showed her the 19, She immediately said, that's it. Anyway, we are slowly getting ready for it and ordered and took delivery of the tow vehicle in December. I've always tried to put the horse before the cart. The main thing on the bucket list is to drive to Alaska and I want a trailer that will stand up. And I know quality when I see it as I am in the remodeling business. There will not be a whole lot on that trailer that I won't be able to fix. Also, I plan to set the whole rig up for some serious dry camping with an extra water tank in the pickup bed, 2 small Honda generators, etc.

I guess my main concern about the whole thing is finding a place to stop every night when we are on the road. Any comments from all of you experienced travelers out there?

Welcome to the site Loren & Cathy. If you are really serious about an Escape and want to get one asap, you may wish to put your deposit down sooner than next Labour Day. Escape currently has a backlog of about 9 months on their orders, so if if you put a deposit down and get into the queue in September 2014, it will be about summer 2015 at the earliest that you could get your new trailer.

Hi guys, and welcome.

Dave is right, if you want your trailer sooner than later, definitely put a deposit down soon.

There are lots of write-ups regarding travelling to Alaska (a trip we want to do too), as well as lots of sites and phone apps with all sorts of camping sites listed. Heck, I have pulled onto a quiet residential side street a few times, or even a field approach on a rural road.

Thanks for the replies. We will be ready for the trailer in the summer of 2015, so I think this will work out. Escape really has their act together and is constantly refining their product. Who knows what goodies they will come up with in the next year. One new option I see and am going for it is the insulation under the trailer in addition to the extra insulation package. I waited almost a year for the max tow package to come available for our tow vehicle, so the way time flies, we'll have a trailer before we know it. And it will be an Escape.

This reminds me of those studies where kids are offered one marshmallow now or they can take two marshmallows later.
Congrats. You're in the successful group.
