Hello everyone!

I just wanted to say hello to everyone on this forum. I have been lurking for a few weeks and gathering lots of helpful information. After returning home from two weeks camping in Colorado, we decided to do some research on small travel trailers and found the Escape...and we've fallen for it! It may be another year or so before we place an order, but I am certainly taking a lot of notes and starting a list for our future 17B. Our tow vehicle will be a 2012 Jeep Liberty 3.7L V6 4x4 with 5000lb towing capacity...anyone else tow with a Jeep Liberty?

All for now! Again--hello! And thanks for all the wonderful information!

I have towed several trailers with both a 2006 Liberty CRD and a 2011 Liberty, a T@da, Lance 1575, Eggcamper all in the 15-17' range and all around 3000#, no issue. Make sure when you get your hitch installed that there is a separate power wire for the trailer battery, both of mine had to have this installed.

Hi , welcome to the world of Escape !
We do tow with an 02 (factory tow ready ) , it is very comfortable with our 15A , no WDH needed for us .

We are tent campers and this will be my first experience with towing. My Jeep Liberty has the factory installed tow package...it has the 7 pin plug (with a 4 pin adapter)..do I need something else for the trailer battery, etc.? Any other advice will be most appreciated! Thanks much!

It seems the factory Jeep trailer wiring and harness does not allow enough juice back to the trailer battery, in both of my units I had to have a separate wire back to the 7 pin that will charge your battery. Check you pins with a meter and see if they are all hot and have enough juice.

We tow our 15B with a Jeep Liberty similar to yours. At the recomemnndation of Escape Industries (Rease) we opted for the Weight Distribution Hitch. Rease thought it would help with the short wheel base of the Liberty. Thus far, have had no problems and its tows very smoothly. I haven't noticed a problem with battery charging with the factory Jeep towing package, but I think I'll check the pins with a meter as cpaharley recommends.

Hi Tash. We recently completed a 7,250 km trip to the Yukon with a 2006 3.7L Liberty towing a 15B which has twin 6v batteries and two propane tanks mounted on the tongue. No problems were evident although the Jeep did heave a sigh of relief at the top of some hills!. Rease installed the WDH and we had the brake controller installed through Escape. I would say the WDH is a well worth while investment . Hope this helps. Cheers
