I asked that question of ETI because we've seen them listed in several Sprinter motorhomes (a route we've decided not to go). I got the following response from Krista:

"You are correct in that we do not offer a convection/microwave oven option. The measurements of the 2016 model 5.0TA microwave cabinet is 18”w x 11 ½”h x 22”d. However this may change slightly with the new model... The issue with a convection/microwave oven is that the amount of heat it puts off in an enclosed cabinet can be dangerous. It is not recommended."

One would have to do their homework and make the addition on their own.

Correction - microwave convection, not convention

We are in Chilliwack working with ETI on it as I post this. Will know more tomorrow we hope. Keeping fingers crossed on getting a Dometic to fit but may have other options with a Mauve or a Contoure.

We have both types of ovens in our kitchen but I'd like to get rid of the microwave for health concerns. My wife says otherwise.
We picked up a small stainless toaster/convection oven for our current camper and the thought is to transfer it to an Escape in the future. That's unless ETI makes the c/m combo an option...

Weight: 52.2 lbs.
Dimensions: Microwave itself is 11 1/2"H x 21 1/2"W x 16"D.
Baffles add an additional 5.5" to the height if installed into a cabinet.

Wishing you good luck on this. Camping World lists a Dometic with the following info:

Weight: 52.2 lbs.
Dimensions: Microwave itself is 11 1/2"H x 21 1/2"W x 16"D.
Baffles add an additional 5.5" to the height if installed into a cabinet.

You probably will lose a little storage space but I think it would be worth it.

We have a Cuisinart Microwave Convection oven at home. Since it has a heating element, it can bake, roast and brown. But, that also means it's not to be installed in an enclosed space. Hot air exhausts out the back. No way I'd put it in an enclosed wooden cabinet in our trailer.

Very good point except that the ones made for RVs vent out the front. One definitely would not want to put in a "home" model in an RV. Instructions for them show how to box them and the clearances required.

I see. Yes, venting out the front would make a difference, provided the sides, top and back don't get too hot. I wonder though how much heat it would put into the trailer interior?

The heat isn't bad - hardly noticeable in our Casita although we bake at 320 or below as a precaution because of the setup. 320 works great for brownies and chocolate chip cookies.

Perhaps the gas oven option with a microwave would give one almost the same results as a convection/microwave. We've found our convection oven tends to dry things out a lot (but not as bad as nuking bread in a microwave!).

Thanks for all input on microwave convection ovens. We are considering a new trailer and this feature is very important to us.

Looking for convection microwave for our new 19'

I got the measurements as 18-3/4" w x 12"h x 12" deep. Anyone know where to find one that will fit?

This topic has been discussed above and at length on the forum. Convection ovens put out heat. They can be used on a countertop but should not be installed in the recesses provided for a standard microwave in an Escape.

The option I have chosen is: regular microwave from ETI plus several companies make small table top combination convection oven/toaster/broiler. (cuisinart at costco). Since all of them require 120v, it can be used on a small table outside when plugged into shore power.

We just ordered an Escape 21 and were discussing with Tina the installation of a convection microwave oven. We have one in our Winnebago Navion and absolutely love it! We cook on an induction cooktop and bake in our convection oven so we won't have the gas stove, oven, or range hood.

Tina suggested installing it where the normal oven would go. Ours is a High Pointe and it has vents top and bottom. It gets as hot as a regular oven but it's very fast and cooks quickly. We use the overhead fan exhaust while it's on.

I'll let you know what the service guys say.

It's not the same brand, but Dave (H46Driver here on the forum) had a convection microwave installed in his 21. It looks very nice. Here's the thread on it:

We love ours. Reace made the cabinet to the exact specs required for clearances and heat is NOT an issue at all. I've checked it with a temp gun by removing the adjacent drawers and shooting all around it - negligible increases in temps. Would definitely recommend putting one in and we would do it again and again. Baking while dry camping can be done in the Weber Q so for us there is no sacrifice in giving up the propane oven for the convection microwave. Bakes the best cookies and brownies you'll ever experience while camping!

Jim (cpaharley2008) this is a post regarding heat, heat has not been an issue for us.

I don't think the propane oven is vented to the outside?
