New future owner?

Hi,

After a cross Canada trip in a canvas pop up with my wife and two kids (3 and 1 at the time!), I’m coveting the Escape I saw on a neighbouring campsite last year.

So there’s four of us, and I’ll be towing it behind my 2016 Tacoma. We want to use it for camping trips and travel, and maybe someday a place to stay while we build a cabin on a lot by a lake.

Any thoughts would be welcome!

Rob

Read as much as you can on this forum. Find out from ETI who all has one near you that you can view. Others on this forum might contact you regarding seeing their trailer(s).

When you do view the trailers, make sure all of you are there so you can see what it's like with all of you in there. Walk around, sit at the dinette, etc - get a feel for how it'll work for you.

Good luck with your decision process!

Hi Rob, welcome! I pull “Classic” 2013 19’ with a 2016 Tacoma. In my experience, this is a well matched combo. However be aware the current model of the 19’ is heavier and has 1000 more GVWR than 19’ made prior to 2017. The Tacoma can pull it, but with 4 people and gear, the Tacoma’s payload will be maxed out if not over limit.

You will find lots of discussions and opinions on this forum regarding tow vechicles. I love my Tacoma! Don’t get me wrong. But if I was buying a new 19’ or 21’ Escape, I would trade it in on a 2016 Tundra. (Or other similarly capable Truck.). If you find a good “Classic” Escape, the Tacoma will work fine.

Again, welcome to the Escape community! Happy browsing!

Hi: Robert W... You, and your family would be welcome to join us at The Niagara Wine Escape rally Sept. 14-16th. Lots of owners there to ask, and rigs to view. We usually attract every size Escape trailer... some new and some "Classic" styles too!!! Alf

Welcome Rob! All Escape models are unique. You have to go see some for yourself, on the inside, to see what floor plan works best for your family. Some models are available with a bunk (cot) over dining/bed area.
Contact ETI to give you list for showing in your area.
