New Member 21ft escape

Hi,

My husband and I are buying a 21 foot escape. I can't find an answer to questions I have about the mattress. What brand is it? what is the quality like? Is there a suggestion for improving how comfortable the mattress is?

Thanks! I'm excited and can't wait to pick ours up.

Hello & congrats on your upcoming 21. Escape sources their mattresses and likely other items from Ducan Industries in Lethbridge, Alberta.
Ducan Industries

We passed on the mattress for a $150 credit, which ETI doesn't offer anymore and constructed our own using 5" foam with a latex topper. Some have paid extra to Escape to get a firmer mattress, yet this is all personal preference.

Unless you are having the trailer delivered, you would probably do best to take the stock or upgraded one as taking your own bed with you there is bulky.

My wife and I find the stock mattress quite comfortable but it is a personal preference.
Some have gotten toppers for their mattresses. Good luck and welcome to the Escape community.

We like the stock mattress, but it is definitely a personal decision. Our bodies are all different.
And some are more worn out than others.
Whatever your choice, enjoy your 21 footer, we sure do.And welcome to unofficial club of Escape .
Happy trails to you.
Allan.

If as Ross mentions, you get nothing for deleting it, I'd try it and see how it goes. Personally we're fine with the factory mattress and a latex topper, found memory foam doesn't work too well traveling in the cold. I have noticed the mattress is getting pretty shot with the edges breaking down at 5 years.

Local small mattress manufacturers may build you one to fit the 21 if you have one around Lancaster.

Do you have an Escape 19 already like your info states?
We find the mattress in our 19 great.

Welcome Donna, to our little Escape world. I think you will find the stock mattress in the E21 quite comfortable and definitely better than a blow up mattress or cot from tent camping.

Our first trailer was a Casita and we put a memory foam mattress in it that was great. The Escape came with a coil spring mattress when we picked it up so we had a chance to try it on the trip back home. It needed a little tweeking with a 2" memory foam topper but its now more comfortable than the full memory foam was. Its a lot lighter as well - picking it up to get to the under bed storage is much easier than it would be with a full memory foam mattress.

We will keep the factory mattress until it wears out - and then get another like it.

Hi Donna! Conga-Rats on your upcoming purchase.

We also enjoy the stock mattress on our 21’, but have added a memory foam topper for added comfort. My wife really likes it.

I wouldn’t mess with changing the stock mattress out until your have tried it.

Hope to meet you on the road!

That's what we did, add a memory foam topper on top of the factory mattress. That did the trick for us. It's now very comfortable and works great.

We tried memory foam pillows and found out that they do not like cold weather, something to think about....

Congratulations and welcome to the forum, you will find lots of wonder, helpful people on here. I know this will be like Christmas and you will be marking the days off on the calendar. Do you plan to pick up your Escape or have it delivered to you?
Would also suggest you find a rally you could attend that would have some other Escape owners there, really enjoyed learning from them.

Enjoy the journey.

VMOM, WELCOME HOME since we can't live too far from each other, we live in Johns Creek. We just bought are 21' about 4 months from someone in Mississippi, our maiden voyage weekend was at a campground on Lanier . I'm sure we will cross paths sometimes soon.

Enjoy the journey.

Made the same trip with our new 21!
Spent Christmas and New Years on the road. We just thought of it as a good way to break in our new home on road.
