New Old Timers (Looking for 17B)

Been around a little while, guess it is time to introduce ourselves.

We are a couple in our early 70's, live just outside Austin TX, but will always consider ourselves Oregonians. We had a 32' Alfa fifthwheel for about 8 years which we used to escape the heat/rain and see most of the US, about 50,000 miles worth. A few years ago we decided it was much larger than we wanted to handle, and have been without an RV for 3-4 years.

In looking at those aspects of our lives we realized that the things we remember with the greatest amount of pleasure are those we experienced while rving. The people we met, the campgrounds, scenery, meals cooked in the dutch oven over the fire, freedom to follow our whims, clean air and quiet. This led us to decide to downsize and an Escape 17B looks like just the ticket. Large enough for two to spend some time in, but easy to tow and maintain.

We have not yet had an opportunity to see an Escape, so are flying blind, but are looking at what is available used. Given the low supply and high prices we have pretty well decided to order new, but do not want to take possession until early summer 2020, so cannot order yet. Thus, still looking. If anyone owns one in the Austin/San Antonio area we could look at we would appreciate it. (Even if it is not a 17B it would give us ideas on build quality, size and features).

We are long term planners and are really looking forward to both the process and the opportunity to travel this great country again, back to some of our favorite places.

Welcome Mike to the fiberglass side of life. Since the two of you are probably retired, why not take a road trip or even fly to Osoyoos for the annual Eacape Rally starting 5/23-5/26. You will see over 160 Escapes, all sizes and each one different. We love show our trailers to new people and it would be a great opportunity to see first hand and ask question with both, the owners of the trailers, and Escape Trailers Tammy and Reace will be in attendance also.

Interesting idea. Wonder how that would sync with a trip to ETI to finalize build sheet? Might be too late, but I do not know the time lag between build sheet and production date.

We would have to find a motel. Any near?

All you need to do is put a deposit via your credit card and lock in a completion date. Then you can start on your build sheet which normally is not due until maybe 2 months before production, but some have it done early.

So you would not have to go to Chilliwack, everything else can be done on line. It is a great opportunity for newcomers. If you do decide you need to let Escape know so that they can have a place for you for dinner. There are hotels on site or in town.

Hmm, will have to see what I can work out. ETI will not yet accept any deposits on production dates after Sept, 2019. We are looking for June-August, 2020.

Thanks for your help. I think I misunderstood...you are thinking about this year's gathering. I was thinking about next year.

Do they have the get together about the same time each year, at the same place?
