Welcome to the forum stormforce. I joined back in December but have only recently posted a few times now. What I have done is read a lot of posts. I've learned quite a bit by reading the various discussion topics. Plenty of good information here from folks who've been Escape owners for a while. Congrats on choosing the 21 model!

Exciting times ahead! Congratulations!!! Probably ready by springtime? At least you know what to do this upcoming winter: sweating over build sheet. Best wishes with all the decision making!

Welcome aboard!

And congratulations on your new trailer. We've had our 21' for three years and appreciate its design features and build quality more with each trip.

If you have any questions about factory options in the short term or need to take some interior measurements don't hesitate to contact us.

thank you for the welcomes everybody!!!
it is exiting to know we are getting quality for sure !, we are going from truck tent,, to 21! , pretty much have build sheet figured out , but i would like any opinions on one being the foam insulation option underneath , we live a generally mild climate year round and draining all tanks in winter .... is it really necessary,, as my only concern is being able to access any wiring or what have you in the future ? any insight on this would be appreciated

We picked up our 21' in mid-September of 2014 and camped the first night at Manning Park, where it went down to -5C. We were glad we had the foam insulation on our tanks, and have been several subsequent times because we camp mainly in the spring and fall, often at elevation in the mountain parks.

We live near you in the Comox Valley and always winterize our tanks.

Foam Insulation

Storm,
In our three years, we haven't needed to access anything covered by the foam. My understanding is it's not too hard to remove some, if necessary, then replace with similar stuff.

Had to remove the foam from around the black and grey dump valve when the black broke. I comes off okay with a knife and putty knife, messy, but it does come off. About the same amount of work spraying the replacement stuff back on. It would be worse if I had to get to wires of which there are only a couple down there.

I had ETI send me pictures of the underside before they sprayed it. The gas lines, one set of water lines from the shower to the kitchen sink, wires for the tank sensors, and one more set that may be brakes, are all I see. It would be a bear to pull down a holding tank although the foam does a good job of shielding everything from damage, other then the dump valves.

I got the foam as we camp in the fall when overnight freezing temps are common, I was undecided whether it was a good choice or not. Since then we've headed south in December and it'll be January this winter. Having had the chance to work with the foam and our travel circumstances, I'm glad I have it. If I lived where there were milder temps, I'd not have it. I hear it's also good to have if you frequent AZ or some such in the summer heat.

Are you planning on driving gravel roads? Do you like to keep your feet warm(er) when it's cooler outside? Then I would recommend the spray foam.

Padlin, would you be willing to share the photos of the bottom of an Escape 5.0TA before sprayfoam is applied? I'm assuming the tank layout is the same as an Escape 21.
Thanks!

I'll post them but the trailers are somewhat different, your bath is to the right of the door, mine's opposite the door.

Looks a shame to cover up that great looking smooth underside but think we will do the same on our 19

Insulation under floor.

There is another option for insulating the floor if you are a bit handy. Check out what Ron did with a little bit of ingenuity.

This is a mod in my saved file for the future for sure.
