Potential new Escape owner

Hello. My wife and I currently own a 2004 T@b which we tow with a 4.0L V6 Tacoma. The lack of a bathroom is finally getting to her so we are in the market for a new travel trailer. I have been looking at the Escape 19 for a while as well as the R-Pod 177 but the more I look the more the Escape wins. I just stumbled onto this site so I'm sure I'll have lots to read up on and probably even more questions to ask. In the meantime here's a couple pics of the current rig:

And the view from this campground at night:

Hello and welcome. We also looked at the R-pods at an rv dealer. Although a decent trailer, we were not impressed with the craftsmamship. Lots of staple construction and luan plywood-- and it still comes in at +20k USD. Like many here we did a TON of research before deciding on an Escape. I just don't think you can beat it for the money.

Welcome Wallace,
As a past owner of a T@da, I can feel your growing pains. The Escape is an exceptional unit and be prepared to make a lot of decisions, as unlike your T@b, you can "have it your way" inside and outside with changes to the build. This eliminates a lot of the modifications made after delivery. Enjoy.

The Taco should be a good tug for an Escape 19. Earlier this year we did a 14000km pull over prairie and mountain with our 4.0l Frontier -- I don't think there was any place it couldn't go as fast as I wanted it to (and maybe more importantly, there were no downhills where it wouldn't go as slow as I wanted it to...)

new escape owner

Wallace, We are now on our second Escape, thought the 19 would be our last trailer, after three very happy years towing and using it we saw the 21 and had to have it. Prior to the first Escape we have had a number of RV's in the last 50 years, the only one we were unhappy with was the Forest River R-Pod, a lack of support and poor design and workmanship, it was gone in six months. As everyone else we really appreciate the Escape quality, the support, and ability to custom build.

Seems we have similar taste. My Escape 19 is scheduled for Dec23. The T@B was sold a month ago.

Thanks for all the input. I am pretty much sold on the 19'. The only problem now is convincing the wife. I just priced it out and including all the options I would want and taxes I am over $31,000 CAD. Unfortunately, I may have to go with something cheaper out of necessity or delay the purchase for a year or so.

The resale value is a very important factor with the Escape and all the other fiberglass trailers. It's unlike anything in the industry. I had a 2010 Casita for a year and sold it for no loss.

Maybe a 17, or even a 15 with fewer options to start with. Once you own an Escape, the experience will make you a believer in fiberglass. Keep it for a year or two and run from there.

A year is not that far away. (Escape builds are nearly out a year.) Many of us have taken longer than that to get our Escapes. There are people who take nearly that just to do their build lists.

Hang in there. You've got room in the back of that Tacoma for a Porta-Potti and women have amazing bladders, so you have time to get your dream trailer.

We looked at the same trailers and ended up with the 19 Escape. We are currently in Dawson Creek until Saturday and you are welcome to look at ours.

Much appreciated, but that's a minimum 9 hour round trip. Any chance you are heading further north?
