Ready to retire and Escape.

Hi, we just joined the forum and can see how valuable it will be. We are looking into the Escape 21 and also the 5.0. We live in central Texas and are looking forward to seeing the rest of the country. And of course Canada.

Thanks for the welcome Marry. Is it rude to ask what the Senior Member beneath your name means?

Thanks, Jim. We are just beginning this journey but really are excited to see one soon. The photos are nice but I'm betting don't do justice to the real thing.

OMG! Welcome to the group! As DonnaD mentioned, the Bluebonnet Rally will be April 19-23 in Bandera Tx and there will be at least 12 Escapes including two 2017 21' models. Even if you don't sign up for the rally, come by anyway and we will be happy to show you our little house.

Hope to see you there!

Was fortunate enough to retire at 50. Its been ten years now, it goes fast! This year we are committed to more experiences, and less everything else. Retirement "phase II" starts in May.

Fifth wheel versus 21 footer. Tough choice there. We had a fifth wheel years ago (not an Escape). We really liked the separate sleeping area, makes a trailer almost into two rooms. And of course, you get use out of every foot, no losing space to a hitch.

On the other hand, we seem to always using the bed of the truck for something. Giving up the bed was pretty close to a deal breaker.

There really is no wrong answer. And no decision is "permanent". Well maintained and lightly used Escapes are easy to sell. So you are not "stuck" whichever way you go.

Hi Alf,

Drove the Natchez Trace last year with my Sister in law from Kosciusko, MS to Nashville. What a laid back beautiful drive! Love the bumper sticker on your rig: "I go where I'm towed!"

I'm so bummed out that we won't make it to Bluebonnet this year! Our Casita will be there, but with her new owner. Too far for day trip and a hassle with two dogs. Plus there are no rooms in town. Oh well, I know everyone will have a great time.
