So happy with our new Escape 5.0 TA Fifth Wheel

Hello, community, We are Dori & Mena and we currently own the 5.0 TA Fifth Wheel.

We are from Montreal, QC and live on our Escape 90% of the time and we travel allot!
It has been 2 months since we purchased her and we are still learning the ins and outs.

We used to have the Casita and after 2 years it was time to get something bigger!! After visiting many fiberglass RV's, the fifth wheel was the best one for our travel lifestyle. We can't wait to make new memories with Casa Blanca and meet new friends in the RV lifestyle.

We also have a youtube channel and document our travels across the USA, Canada, and Mexico!!
!!!

You may want to display/list/add which year 5.0 you own, since different years, different responses....

True, we own the 2015 fifth wheel.

Edit: We forgot to mention it in the video but it is now in the description. Thanks for that.

Hi: DoriandMena... Glad you enjoyed the Niagara Wine Escape. Watched your video and have a suggestion for the mattress. Before you cut the mattress buy a cheap small pool noodle and cut it in half lengthwise (using a bread knife). Slip it down along the botton of the mattress so it pushes it away from the wall. If it's not enough it's cheap enough so not much loss. Alf

Hey Alf,

Thanks again for all the work you put into the rally. It was great and we enjoyed meeting everyone. We learned a lot but there is still so much to learn.

We will definitely try the pool noodle trick. Do you put it semicircle side down or open side down?

Dori and Mena: Welcome! I have appreciated your Escape trailer tour videos when you were in Chilliwack and then saw that you had purchased a Casita. I knew you would eventually be Escape owners. The classic 5.0TA is one of my favorite trailers and I wish you guys the best with it.

Oh and as far as the loud vent hood fan might I recommend the FOP SAM-1 upgrade. Well worth it. You get a quiet two speed fan and a two level LED light. Unfortunately the owner of FOP has passed and I believe they ceased production so the remaining available units seem to have gone up in price.

Hi: DoriandMena... I'd put the cut side to the mattress... but which ever allows the most air along the end of the mattress, and how thick the noodle is.
I also have a cut piece along the back cushion in our dinette. Makes the cushion slope away from the wall. The cheaper ones are smaller in dia. They should be on clearance now that pool time is almost over!!! Alf

I watched the video last night, again a great video. If I had the 5.0TA, I would build a platform out of pine strapping like the futon frames used to be 20 years ago. This would provide air circulation underneath.

In another thread, someone installed this in their 19

Hi: DoriandMena... The trailer has an insulated floor under the plywood covered by carpet. I believe it's at least 1 1/2" foam board. We have had the condensation along the front nose/ mattress edge. I had some pipe insulation on hand so cut in short lengths and inserted vertically inbetween, that seemed to force the mattress away from the wall.

Something to consider, but we need more time and tools for this.

Hopefully, the noddles work. It sounds like a great idea, fast and not expensive.
Thanks

If anyone is interested, I have one of these, brand new, unopened. I think I paid around $100, I'd like to get that much out of it as I doubt I will install it.

Apparently there's a mattress/condensation issue. No help for that, but my wife, Michele, wanted me to mention she's thrilled with www.tochta.com for our custom RV mattress. Happy travels. L&M
