Hi Gene, welcome to our little Escape world. With your van and 3500# limit, the Escape 17 would be perfect. The 17 Foot Escape

I agree with Harley. An Escape 17A, the floor plan with no interior bathroom, might be just the thing. The small dinette up front converts to a bed, and so does the larger one in back. 1900 lbs dry weight with the standard build.

Yes, the 17A would be perfect; the front actually is a permanent bed. And you could probably get ETI to put just a toilet (no shower) in the wardrobe if you liked. Going from a tent trailer to this model will be a huge step in terms of ease of setting up for camping. I know.

That's right Karen! Completely forgot about the extra space allowing for a permanent bed up front.

Hello Gene.

We got the 17 B nine years ago.We are still happy, but are now using the front dinette as a bed for one and the the other bed for one person plus the fox terrier.Bathroom is nice at 2 am when it is raining outside.
Sleeping in two beds helps when you are 76 and 74 getting a little inconvinient to climb over each other in the middle of the night.
Easy to tow and getting around in tight spaces.
Good Luck in making a decision.
Allan.

We want a small R.V. for reasons others have expressed -- we want to travel throughout the U.S. and Canada, and using an Escape seems to be the best way to do that. As for our tow vehicle, we just bought a Chevy Silverado 1500 quad cab (grandchildren) because we wanted enough payload to support the 900 - 1000 pin weight of the 5.0 T.A. For the past four months, we have been devouring just about everything on this Forum, and we really appreciate all that we have learned from you Escapees. There's just one more little question that I will ask on a new thread.
Hi Bill and Mary. We are native Iowans with lots of family and friends in the Waterloo area. My wife is up there now tending to her ill mother. Anyway, this forum moves so fast that I miss a lot. We are headed to Chilliwack after labor day so will probably see your new 5.0 ta when we are up there. We go up both I 29 and I 35 so just might look you up one of these days. Will be up there the last of August for the farm progress show in Boone. Let us know where you are planning to take your trailer. We probably won't have one till August 2015. Loren
