  • Escape 21: overall length = 21'-4"; body length = 17'-4"
Those are outside body lengths, but with single-wall fiberglass construction the interior length isn't much less. The four-foot difference between body length and overall length is roughly three feet of tongue plus one foot of rear bumper and spare tire.

Most of the trailer industry identifies trailers by body length (or deck length in the case of flat-deck cargo trailers), not by overall length, so the Escape 17',19' and 21' would be 14-foot, 16-foot, and 17-foot models (assuming rounding to the nearest foot), respectively. Among moulded fiberglass travel trailers, overall length is more commonly used.

Yes, was aware of that.
Would be better if the RV industry would just use actual inside dimensions, kinda like how a house lists it's inside square feet(usable area)

Best choice you made getting that 19 over the 17. The 17 you use the hard cushions from the table bench seats as your bed. The 19 has its own queen sized bed and a dual axle which makes things way better towing no sway what so ever !

Yes the deciding factor for the 19 is the permanent bed. (previous choice on the 17 would've been the 17A) coming from a utility style trailer anything has more space anyway

It's funny the overall length was discussed... I guess I was not aware of how the trailer length was measured conventionally. Our custom trailer sits at 14-15' overall length so a couple feet more is not too hard to decide. The additional axle going from 17 to 19 took a little longer to ponder tho (but in the end the queen size bed wins anyway).

17 vs 19

We also had a 17 on order, but after seeing both in Osoyoos we changed our order to a 19. The two deciding factors were the permanent bed and the larger dinette. We pick up the new 19 this Friday. Very interested in how it tows vs our Escape 15.
