5.0TA Sales Tax - Idaho

We are thinking about moving to Idaho (currently living in North Carolina) after we pick up our 5.0TA next Aug/Sep. Has anyone titled a fifth wheel in Idaho and if so, what is the sales tax? I can't find a clear answer online. Thanks!

Some states have reciprocal agreements, for example when moving from Maryland to Pennsylvania there was no additional sales tax.

We will be leaving North Carolina, picking up the 5.0TA and moving straight to Idaho. We won't returning to North Carolina and then moving to Idaho.

So Idaho will be the first state the Escape will be titled in? According to IDOT, it is 6 %

If the initial titling is done in Idaho it appears that it is treated like a vehicle and the sales tax is 6%.

Idaho has a relatively high tax burden compared to some nearby states. Sales tax on a new rig titled there is indeed 6 percent. If your purpose in moving there is to lower your tax burden, Idaho might not be the best choice. If for other reasons, it's a beautiful state, and one of our favorites - particularly the panhandle.

Highway 12 from the Lolo Pass to Kooskia Idaho along the Lochsa and middlefork of the Clearwater rivers is the prettiest drive in the country. In my not so humble opinion. Kooskia
Nez Perce for “Sun coming over the mountain”. Might not yet be much of a town but has the best name translation too.

Idaho is horrible! Everyone has guns & shoot on sight. You absolutely don’t want to live here. Would advise choosing Oregon, Washington or Nevada but NOT Idaho. Luv, Jules

I think "horrible" is rather a strong and unfair term to describe Idaho
While Idaho is no Oregon , it does have a certain charm.
Oregon is a unique and a very special place in America !

And then there’s the concept that perhaps there are people
who feel comfortable around Idahoans and share the same values, likes and dislikes as these folks. I lived there, made friends there, vacationed there and happened to do a little shooting there myself.

Florida is the same. We are even nicknamed the gunshine state.
When we are not busy shooting then placing dead armadillos upside down along the roadsides we like to dress up in camo and go to gun shows . And there are folks around who do not understand why if its tourist season we are not allowed to shoot any of them. So I'd stay in the north,. Besides it's always 99 degrees plus with 200% humidity even in the winter.

Yep. Definitely stay away. The beaches are terrible too. I mean, after experiencing the discomfort of laying on powder soft white sand under a palm tree and drinking a Pina Colada, you're ready to leave the horror show of Florida behind forever.

Texas is pretty bad too. I mean all our Ex's live there!
You really want to run into Neena or Julieanne again?
And Tex Mex food is addictive. It should be at least schedule IV.
Plus it takes to long to travel across it. They should shrink it down a bit.

Thank you all for so eloquently expressing what I have long believed in my heart and soul . Honesty such as yours is seldom seen anymore in these time of political correctness.
There are many parts of the US where I feel I am a stranger but there still remains areas that make me feel like I am home and have no reason to be afraid. Hope springs eternal !!

You do NOT want to come to Oregon. Dang bunch of tree huggers where no one pumps their own fuel, all the Oregon coast beaches are owned by the public... you will really miss those fences built down to the waterline in other states. Oregon State Parks don't charge more for out-of-state visitors and you really want to pay more, don't you? Besides, on Jan. 1 Oregon is adding 5,000 more beverage containers to the deposit/recycle program and those items are going to cost you 10 cents more each. Throwing them in the garbage is soooo much easier as is done in other states.

I've been in all 50 states and at least 30 foreign countries. While some places were more pleasant than others, I can't say I ever felt afraid in any of them. One component of travel that makes it so intriguing, at least to me, is to go places and meet people who I know I will disagree with, whose culture, habits, lifestyle and beliefs are not familiar to mine - To see their point of view, whether I agree with it or not, and maybe, just maybe, learn something along the way. They still shoot em and hang em on a regular basis in Arizona. After all we do have Tombstone and the OK Corral if you aren’t convinced. If they don’t shoot you or hang you then you’ll get lost in the desert in 120 degrees but your bones will be all bleached out after the Coyotes and Vultures pick em clean.

I was working in Sierra Vista awhile back Greg, and made a side trip to Tombstone. The reenactment of the gunfight at the OK Corral was a gas. Quite fun. And the Clantons and McLaurys still lost.
