Didn't know about earning interest in escrow--or not, as the case may be. Thanks!

Man, I wish I had put more in my US account a couple years back than I did. Spent most of it financing our Alaska trip last month.

So I guess the title of this thread should be changed from "Capturing favorable US/CAD conversion" to "US Buyers, Buy Now."

Then you still captured a "favorable" rate. Not the "best" rate perhaps, but nobody has a genie to tell them what's going to happen. I just think this rate is ridiculously good for US buyers, and they should strike while the iron is hot.

This is very true. I was just fanning the flames. My bad.

If that happens Glenn, it would mean that as a US buyer you could get a LOADED 19 for the same price as a stock Casita 17. If it stayed there I think Reace and Tammy would also be forced to consider another price increase, as US supplies get more expensive and the relative value continues to change.

Yep. Watch it keep rising. I initiated a wire transfer yesterday for most of our payment. So you'll see the value of $CAD rise until my wire transfer is processed, and then drop again after that.

No, that's being ungrateful and I'm just kidding. I will be getting an amazing conversion rate and whether it goes up or down after my conversion to $CAD is complete, I'll be happy for whatever discount I get!

One more funny thing.... I remember being in Canada a few years ago when the conversion rate was closer to 67 cents to the US dollar. We pulled up to a Timmies when we first arrived and didn't have any Canadian money. Paid with a US $10 (I know, it was kind of embarrassing) and got a box of 40 timbits plus about $12 CAD back. Felt like they paid us to buy their timbits!

Had to look up what a 'Timbit' was Jill. I've had the Doughnuts at Tim Horton's (very good by the way) but now I know what those little balls are called.

We sent a draft through XE last week and got 27.5%. After much discussion we decided that if it went up higher, oh well, we are satisfied with the rate we got since I had only projected for 20% when we ordered. However, if the rate went down we would be very angry with ourselves for not sending it at 27.5%.
I don't know if Canada has rules governing what businesses can do with USD when they receive them for payment, but if I were ETI I would definitely consider keeping the USD's sent in my USD account, and just giving us a paper conversion # in CAD.

Lead a sheltered life, Robert?

Though, you certainly are not missing much, that's for sure.

We did a wire transfer from our local credit union ($35) in USD this week which Escape processed on 7/23/15 with an exchange rate of 1.2893. We're happy!

T&R that has to be an all-time ETI record.

As others have indicated it's good to know that one can/does get a favorable exchange rate when sending USD to ETI. We've been tracking the exchange rate via Google's calculator and we got what they reported.

As mentioned we did a wire transfer through our local credit union and other than their fee the only other fee incurred was $5 USD. Our ETI bill of sale showed a USD payment five dollars less than what we sent. :dunno:

Either way we are very happy. It (surprisingly) worked out in our favor as we initially wanted to pay for our trailer in April/May as rates were on the move back then (against us). As it turned out waiting closer to our due date saved us quite a bit of money as the rate swung back in our favor.

Just got a 31.80% exchange today. One of the top rates I've gotten.
