Jim Bennett,
Free beer for all Canadians who visit me down here in Iowa all week this week as long as they have an Escape on order. Now that's some good news. Iowa pork chops for dinner with fresh dug Yukon Gold spuds and homegrown tomatoes if you stay for dinner.

To secure my future for a 5.0 TA before the CAD goes back up, I grabbed a position in FXC. Now all I have to do is find a way to afford a F150 that I could drag it around with.

Hi: Zardoz... A Ford in your future might be a year end clearance 0% finance with Ford Credit. It was hard enough for me to afford the Frontier for a "Dragster". Alf

Yesterday CDN to US was 76 cents. Today it's 74 cents... if you care.

There is another thread about this too: http://www.escapeforum.org/forums/f3...rate-7492.html I followed some good advice there and opened an EverBank World Market Portfolio CAD account. I first opened one of their Money Market accounts so that I could do online transfers from my local credit union. Then it was just a matter of moving money from the Money Market into the World Market account whenever I thought the exchange rate was to my benefit. It is not immediate - you usually get the next day rate, but they gave me good rates always. When I am ready they will wire transfer the funds in CAD right to ETI for about $40. They have been very helpful to deal with so far.

I used the same process as Eric except I transfered money from my BoA account into the Everbank Money Market Account (no charge) and also set up a CAD World Market Access acct and then you are able to purchase CAD with your USD. Everbank charged a .75% spread which beats what you will find at most banks. It worked well for me and I had Everbank mail a Bank Cheque directly to ETI in CAD for a ($25) fee. They will also wire the money but it's a little more expensive ($40), I believe.

Just wanted to say I had no issues (except that the CAD seems to keep falling vs the USD so whenever you are comfortable with the exchange rate, go for it.

with the increasing talk of NAFTA in the news..inquiring minds are starting to wonder how it might impact the future import/export of RV trailers and paying or not paying taxes/tariffs on those purchases across the border....

Very interesting topic freespirit. I've been reading quite a bit on it and without going to a political discussion (which is not intended and please stay away from), it is a real possibility in days, to months, to maybe never that a import tariff could be imposed and there is no approval needed for that to happen. Apparently, Nixon slapped a 10% import tariff on around 1971 all by himself.
A very difficult issue to get one's head around and I've been trying to figure out if this happens and you have a completed, paid for trailer sitting on ETI's lot that has never been imported then I'm assuming you would be subject to the tariff at the time of import.
Really can't tell yet at this point what will happen, but there are a lot of serious threats being bandied around concerning this happening. Hopefully, for all concerned this doesn't become a reality as it could create a mess for all involved.

OK, my payment is due on my 21 which I'm not picking up until the 23rd of May. I am trying to figure out how much to pay. What exchange rate do you use? ETI has one from there bank that they get in the morning. DO I over pay, under pay or what, as getting off the phone with Kathy in accounting has me even more confused then before. I simply don't understand when the price is locked. Can someone answer that for me? What has happened to others who waited to pick up their trailer? Thanks

ETI will determine the rate when it is received by them and any over/under will be credited or due. A credit card can take care of the small amount via phone.

Just be aware, that "small amount" could be over $1000.00 if the exchange rate is more than 0.03 cent rate difference between when you send your money and ETI receives it. I know someone who was too close to the bone and couldn't cover a 0.05 rate difference and didn't understand how things worked. Lost their deposit and everything. #sad.
