Jim,
Actual completion date is Dec. 31st, 2015. Just made it under the price increase.

It will still be considered a 2016 model. I believe that the cut off for model year is around November or so of the previous year.

Correct, Dec 1 was the date I was told for the cut off. I got the first 2014 model.

Darn, just missed the cutoff. Guess that should make the insurance less since we'll be last years model...

We just mailed out a check today to cover our delivery cost. We've decided on delivery to Goshen, Indiana (about 8 hours from us). Cost is $4000 CDN / $2900 US. Delivery to our home here in Tennessee would have been around $3800 US. The difference in cost will cover a good portion of our sales tax when we go register the camper, so that seemed like a reasonable compromise.

I'm confoosed. I just asked Escape last week about whether the delivery to Goshen was still a flat $4000 and got this reply:

Hello Garland,

Thank you for your interest in the Escape travel trailer.

Delivery to Goshen, IN is still $2 per mile making it approximately $4,633.00 CAD.

Please feel free to forward any other questions you may have.

Best regards,

Erin Harmatuik, Customer Service

Flagman, that is very odd. I was worried about that changing, going from a flat rate to a per mile charge, which is why we went ahead and asked them to send us an invoice for delivery. And the invoice that I got from Barb yesterday was for the flat fee of $4000.

The only thing that I can think of is that we had already signed up for delivery from Escape, but had not decided on delivery to Goshen or delivery to our home. So perhaps by signing up for delivery back in November, we "locked in" the flat rate. And I guess the new fee structure is for anyone new? Not sure.

But now I'm glad we went ahead and made our decision. Because the flat fee had already gone up from $3000 CAD to $4000 CAD, and that would have made it even more of a hit.

I am probably going to have to foot the bill for home delivery, but at 3400 miles it's a chunk of change. I was considering Goshen delivery because it is a days drive from Asheville NC and we are there every summer for a week anyway. If the exchange rate stays similar to now, it would cost me about $3,340 US dollars to Goshen vs. $5000 to Florida. I would rather pick up from the factory, but that would mean me taking over a week off work. Add in travel expenses and concern about subjecting a brand new trailer to five consecutive 900 mile days and it makes the trip questionable. Also, buying the trailer is supposed to be all about stress-relief, and driving cross country as fast as possible is anything but.
