Nobody has flagged this thread since inception.
No complaint from OP either.

I suppose I was inviting ideas, to a certain extent, so I certainly won't take umbrage at any of the comments. And I do appreciate those suggestions that were thoughtful. While I've had a number of nibbles, it's very interesting to me that, so far, no one has suggested an alternate price, i.e., an offer.

Personally, if I was in the market as a buyer or seller (of used camper) I would welcome price discussion. I am no economist but it would seem to me that discussions about price will make the market more efficient in that buyers and sellers will begin negotiations closer to what the final price will be rather than wasting each others time with wildly divergent ideas about what the "right price" should be.

The issue is not price discussion as it is welcomed here but it should be a private matter via p/m between the buyer and seller, not open to discussion. Just like what the final price settled upon, we never know what the item sells for other than the buyer and seller are both happy and the item is marked "sold".

But there should be no reason why a seller after having made the sale could not post a message such as "SOLD for $XX,XXX" in the thread (if they wanted to). That information could be beneficial to others who are buying or selling a similar trailer.

I agree, there is nothing that prohibits that and it can have some value. I have only seen some ads marked sold for asking price, but the listed and asking price, as we all know can be 2 different animals.
In the past, when I sold units here and on FGRV, if I'm not generating any interest, I start dropping the price, like $500/week. I do that until it is sold. Similar to selling on Ebay, the final bidder is the winner.

Like Jim says below, price discussion is a fine thing, but not one to be aired on an open thread. Discussions about pricing are very valid, and we have had them here, just not on a thread where someone is trying to sell, is all. I would sure not like it one bit, if I offered something for sale, and a bunch of people, most of whom are not even interested in the product, were saying to all my potential buyers that my pricing should be lower.

I know things are smoother running here, than on FGRV which has way more members, but if you get a seller who takes exception to negative comments made his pricing, things can go bad quickly as we have seen on FGRV.

I would have no problem with this, so long as the seller, and possibly more importantly the buyer, is in agreement. This is privileged knowledge that it would be up to them to divulge. Most sale sites where you list vehicles for sale, never offer up the final selling price, and for someone to be willing to do that here, I would think would be rare.

I must point out that the OP did ask for feedback, and that was what I was replying to:

Although I did fail to quote his queries in my reply. He didn't ask for opinions in PM's, either.

My original post has been deleted or made invisible in this thread now, and that's fine, that is what moderators are for. Sincerest apologies to the OP if he was affected negatively by any of my comments.

This thread should be moved to the General Discussion part of the forum. It is not a classified ad. As a seller the thought that this could be in reference to my ad gives me the heebie jeebies.
