Favorable Exchange Rates

The exchange rate USD to CAD has moved a few points in our favor. My build sheet is done and although my completion date isn't until Sept, I'm wiring those funds now to lock in that great rate and save a few clams.

Yep, hit 73 cents today. Cheapest we've seen in several months.

That's crazy low. One could get a new 19, with about 5K of added options for under 27K US!

We' re playing the exchange rate game too, but haven't jumped yet to lock in a rate for our 19. Such a gamble when trying to predict what Trump will do next to our Canadian friends. Sheesh!

Yes, the exchange rate moved in our favor last week and has continued in that direction this week. We sent the wire for our end of June delivery on Wednesday at 1.3572 USD/CAD. Would have saved an additional $134 if we waited until today , but it also could have went the other direction as well . The rate saved us around 1200 clams over what it was when we made our deposit last August, which is cool .

Linda, the USD has been up on the CAD in varying amounts for years, and the White House, regardless of it's occupant, had very little to do with it.

Having said that, .73 is a very low rate. Might even be historically low. For what it's worth, I would strike while the iron is hot.

Somewhere around the year 2000 the exchange rate was around 0.62 or O.63 USD to 1.00 CDN if my memory is correct. If that is a good thing or a bad thing I guess depends on your prospective.

Recent statements about Canada 'dumping' softwood lumber into the US and not being fair to US dairy as well as cancelling NAFTA have had a direct effect on the Canadian dollar.
But, I wouldn't bet on the outcome.

Oil prices seem to have more impact than anything else.

The CAD actually went lower than it is now between mid-December 2015 and the end of February 2016. For a couple of days it went down into the .68 range, but that was historic from what I can tell.

Glenn's right. Trying to predict where it will go is a little like trying to nail jello to a wall. But, .73 is a really beneficial rate for US buyers.

It certainly could go lower but I'm happy with the savings at this current rate ... I i also tend to leave the blackjack table when I'm ahead!

When it was time for us to pay we went in to Navy Federal Credit Union. They set up the wire transfer right there through another bank (can't remember who they used) and we knew when we left exactly what the rate was. That sure took the anxiety out of wondering if the rate was going to go up while waiting for the mail to go through. I think it cost something like $25 in fees and took about 45 minutes.

Wire transfer is good for relief of anxiety. ETI can send you clear instructions that you can take to your bank.

If I remember correctly, There is a certain window that ETI will allow you to pay. Is this true or did I just imagine it.

Silly joke, but I can't resist, "When is a Sisababe not a Sisababe?" When she's ahead......
